Hey all! I know this question takes many variables to answer correctly, but I'm trying to set a reasonable "goal deadline" to get it done. In that vein, what would you say is the amount of time required to find 1 co-founder? In your personal experience or what you've heard would both be helpful. Thanks for any suggestions!

Just kidding about that.

There is no right answer. No joke.

How big is your network? How good at you in rooting out lies and bad traits?

What are you going to do to validate everything a potential co-founder would say to you?

How much time do you have dedicated to finding a co-founder?

It could take 1 day, or 1 year based on your specific situation.

Set a 90-day deadline right now and just see if you can hit it.

It can take zero days if you decide not to have one. Is a co-founder really essential for your business?

For the record, I'm partnership-averse but still, I'd first ask myself if I can accomplish my goals without one.

It took me 11 years to find my first co-founder. I had to build myself up. To hone my skills and make myself invaluable. People come to me for advice. For guidance. For services.

I built my own business as proof of concept. And guided my clients to unparalleled success.

Now, I get to dictate the terms. I've gained the skills and experience.

Every business going forward, I'll only do with a co-founder.

Opportunity oozes from every crevice when you have high value skills.

I agree with @MTF. I once heard someone speak about co-founders and he really changed my perspective. Success in business is really about taking full responsibility for every aspect of your business. Searching for a co-founder is risky because it is really hard to know how it will affect you and your business in the long run. Especially if this isn't a person that you already know for a long time. So, finding a co-founder and the time frame is the smaller challenge, the bigger more dangerous challenge is what happens if it doesn't work out with this co-founder and how will that impact you in ways that are now outside of your control. So take a look and see if looking for a co-founder is not a way to avoid taking responsibility for certain aspects of your business and just hoping to "outsource" those to someone else.
