What can you sell or do that people will pay for when they are worrying about and/or have no money?

Look back to 2007, 2008, 2009.

What businesses did well? What were people buying?

One that did shit was lawn care. My business partner has 300+ accounts in a nice a$$ part of Illinois. @MJ DeMarco might know the Northshore places like Glenview, Northbrook, Buffalo Grove, Vernon Hills, etc.

Even these people with a lot of F*cking money didn’t want to pay $400-$500 a month. They had their son little Johnny mow it because “It’s just easier” When they were really losing their asses.

This will be a depression coming. Only the strong and intelligent will survive my friend.

Mass starvation, cold, possibly war, failing economy, mental illness.

Because we've learned nothing from WW2.

I'm not sure how to answer this question, and I don't think there's a simple answer. But as @wyattnorton said, people are likely to slow down buying luxury or otherwise unnecessary items and services.

What problems will there be to solve in 2023 and why?

Would you pursue a business venture related to it?
Three biggest ones:
1. Health => Working out and diet. People are more aware of how important it is to work out and have a good diet. It's a growing market for sure. Vegan diets and all that shit is real now. People are aware that a healthy life is 99% better than being vaxinated.
2. Relationships => Most men are lonely nowadays(both young and old) and are having a very hard time in the dating world and the average dude is getting destroyed because women have so much attention from random dudes online. Unless you're a top 1% man(6 figures+, 6 ft tall+ and good looking), you're gonna struggle a lot because young women are only exposed to the best today. So yes, you can make a lot of money in this market to by being a producer. Look at fresh and fit on YouTube, these guys have grown so much because a lot of men from all over the world can relate to their topics. That's why OnlyFans, porn and sex work is such a huge business as the disparity between the "have's" and "have nots" only grows as the years go by.
3. Wealth => People are exposed to the 0.1% type of lifestyle on social media and want to be rich. Just like what it was 7-10 years ago when Tai Lopez started the "here in my garage" video that got like 100m views. And especially since inflation is through the roof, it's very relevant now. You can sell the slowlane too. It will always be a thing. Or being this guru lol. Why do you think all these Amazon FBA/SMMA/Dropshipping gurus always sell courses too? Because they know they can make a lot from it because people are lazy, even more than what they make in their actual business.

BONUS:
4. Talking about the truth on social media => People are hungry for the truth and not this leftist liberal agenda that's going on everywhere. That's why Andrew Tate got so popular. He's promoting real masculinity and is a living example of that, and people in the ages from 15 to 25 recognize that which is the main reason behind his growth on socials. We need more people like him.

EDIT:
5. Selling the "shortcut/trick" to X. Crypto courses, Amazon FBA courses, building muscle with 3 tricks/lose weight with this one unknown trick etc. That's a huge market too, people are extremely lazy in 2022 so that's a BIG opportunity.

Sourcing price competitive goods to sell.

People hate paying high prices for everyday items these days. If you can source products cheaply and sell them it is a potential market.

The supermarkets that sell bargain items are doing very well in my place.

Your question is a little broad don't you think?
