This is intended for those who struggle with addiction in the digital realm. Though, I suppose one could do this in real life too.
If you have trouble checking social media, logging into an online video game, then I suggest that you consider to "throw away your keys".
1. Change your login credentials to something you won't remember, e.g. O0IZ0OIQ@#34D9E0D789D
2. If the service is linked via an email, phone #, or "forgot password" questions, then remove them.
3. If the service is an online game then consider deleting your character(s) and/or giving away all your in-game currency and item(s). If you're a part of a clan/guild that uses a 3rd party communication application, then also consider leaving their channel(s).
4. Remove all links from your web browser(s) bookmark(s). If it's a game, then uninstall it.
5. Clear your search history for any trace of it, Google allows you to search for specific words in search history. You don't want to be tempted when searching for something that begins with the same letters of what you're trying to avoid.
6. If you have mementos (art, toys, digital wallpaper, screenshots) of the hyperreality realm you were once a part of, then consider getting rid of them. SENTIMENTAL: This may increase your chances of relapsing, but, one may want to consider going out with one last hurrah in a "retirement party". By ceremoniously hanging out with your clan
mates for one last time, handing them all your cool loot, whatever.
This is all intended to make it as unattractive as possible to return to these habits, thereby allowing you to retain your willpower for focusing on things that truly matter to you. It is much easier when not under the seductive spell of these services/programs/games.
Hopefully, this info may be of use to someone.
