Is there a way to pre-sell to an Amazon product that hasn't been made yet

I design and manufacture my own product.

Is there a way to get pre-sales going for a product that hasn't been made yet, but soon will be available on amazon?

I'd like to minimize the risk, see how many sales I can get - and use that money to get stock.

Can I use that money later and enter shipping details of each buyer into amazon and let the system fulfill it?

How could that possibly work?

Not without getting banned.

Better options:

Kickstarter
Run ads to a landing page
Make a simple website, start a social media account and drive traffic to it, big discount for pre-sale orders.

I have a landing page with an email sign-up button.
Having a website isn't a problem also - I can also do it.

However, I can only have so many people signed up, but until I get a first sale at a desired price - I won't be 100% sure to spend 5k-10k on stock, that might never sell on Amazon. It's a new product, that is not known.

Essentially, I am struggling to find a way to fulfill those pre-sold orders that I'd like to offer.
How would you do it from the start if you were verifying demand?

The product is relatively heavy (18 lb) and bulky.

* I was looking into UPS. It's 70 bucks shipping from Canada to USA. Fulfilling by myself is out of equation.

I am thinking another option is to have a shopify website on which I can pre-sell (unlike amazon) and start from there.

The process is this:
1. Ads to landing page
2. Landing page works like real shop except for payments.
3. After final "payment button" you tell them you're out of stock and that they'll get 10% discount for inconvenience.

You assume that final button means they would buy.
Check amount of people who visited.
Check how many "bought".
Decide if its worth pursuing.

No one is going to pre-order at full price, unless it is a luxury / very limited quantity / one-of-a-kind offer.

Generally, pre-sales are going to be a big discount, with the understanding that you're going to wait a few months to get it.

How would you do it from the start if you were verifying demand?

Do a discounted pre-order. This is how I started my business.

Get a 3PL.

Do you have a prototype/sample?

so you don't believe in the product?

Coming from you, it’s probably a trick question @ZCP

It’s mostly, because I didn’t get a prototype just yet, and not sure if it’s going to perform as expected. It works in CAD, and approved by an engineer.

So goal #1: get a prototype. Everything is ready, but factories are now closed.

To add: I know the market (golf players), the product will be useful for average golfers. It’s an indoor / outdoor golf swing trainer. I got people interested, some want it, but I’ve never mentioned how much it would cost them.

I am uncertain whether I can sell it at a price that makes me profit (at least $10 per product), and also is not too expensive for an end user.

Thank you, I’ve read this recently.

This guy @AgainstAllOdds posts some good stuff here
:)

If I could go back in time, I would have started with a landing page and pre-sales RIGHT AWAY instead of doing that in the end after product is designed and ready to be manufactured.

I understand my post won't resonate with your situation. But something I have noticed in similar situation:

I know a guy who did pre-sold with an Info Product, not Physical Product.
It happened in mid 2019.
It's a copy-writing book in the teachable platform wbesite with pdf embedded.
It was $39 from the FB Ads and I bought it immediately because it was known as Early Bird Price.
Somehow my gut told me that the price is gonna increase later, so If I don't buy it, it's a loss at that time.
So I can afford $40. I have bought it just for learning purpose.
After a few weeks, he said he is gonna make Physical Product which into a Physical Book which is no update at the moment.
The guy acknowledged that he did pre-sold for at least 4-6 months continuous, it generated him over $100K
It was possible only through: Paid Ads in Facebook and he had cash in handy for the paid advertisement.
