It's disappointing to me that there's people who are dismissive of this as a problem. These things can be very addicting, that's why there's entire support groups to help young men get away from porn and masturbation. I would also check Reddit's /r/nofap it's one of the few actually productive and useful things on Reddit.

It's a serious issue, and even though you're only 19 and it could be just hormones, with the ease of access today, it can spiral into something crippling. It's best to take control of it sooner rather than later. When you think something is a problem, it probably is a problem.

I've done the whole NoFap thing and can say that you will only find success if you improve other areas in your life as well.

Many people who are successful at doing NoFap attribute all of their success to it. What is actually happening is that in order to quit their porn and masturbation addiction they had to start improving a bunch of other areas in their lives.

I'm 21 right now and this only stopped being an issue for me once I was healthy, improved my relationships, and was on my purpose.

I think the right way to view the challenge of NoFap is as an indicator of progress in the rest of your life. The more fulfilled you are and the more action you take - the less you will need to use your addiction as a crutch.

You may find that addiction to social media and the internet in general is playing a very similar role to porn. Addiction to the dopamine hits from all of the novelty is a very real thing.

Our generation desperately needs to find a way to navigate through a technologically infused landscape without becoming numb, impulsive, narcissists - who are constantly on the hunt for instant gratification. The age we live in is a blessing and a curse.

To get as many of the positives from technology without suffering from the negatives, I have a rule that I don't bring my phone or laptop into bed. I don't take my phone out of my pocket while in conversations with other people. I only go on social media if it is related to an event or work.

Slowly I will be able to manage my use of the internet more and more effectively without F*cking up my mind. I wish the same for you.

I called it what it is: masturbation addiction. This isn’t an addiction counseling forum.

Unfortunately, or fortunately for the glass-half-full types, I have a lot of experience with addiction. My own addictions and those of friends and family.

The best way to tackle addiction is with brutal honesty.

Tenderness and victimization does nothing to help the situation.
