I decided to join after reading the 10th anniversary edition. But was still a long journey to get here. I'll start at the beginning.
My journey started in first semester of first year. I read "Wage-Labour and Capital" and "Value, Price and Profit" by Karl Marx. Those pamphlets where my first foray into political economy. I recommend these texts even to this day. As it shows you how the rate race is just slavery and how workers do not get their full value.
For those of you thinking Marx was about equality of opportunity then I'd recommend "Critique of the Gotha Program" which answered my hesitations.
Those texts ware a lot better than "The Communist Manifesto" for understanding the position of communists and actually give strong points to understanding our current system and the critique of the current system.

I don't consider myself a Marxist namely because I reject modernist philosophy and the notion of meta-narratives of history, no one is coming to save you. So the title is a bit of an exaggeration but close non the less.
It showed me I couldn't accept the script and I need to enact force to change my circumstance. This however was presented as the need for collective and political action.
At university, I studied Electrical Engineering and did pretty well. I finished in the top 10% of students (unfortunately this does not necessarily translate to me being in the top 10% of wealth).
While pursuing my degree, I worked at internships and got first my "F*ck This Moment" I was 21 and I was waiting around in the office to give some one something when something caught my eye. It was a "certificate" congratulating a co-worker for "25 years of service". I was 21 and someone was working here day in and day out out of the same cubical for *longer than I've been alive* (25 > 21 years)!!! I really decided I needed to change. I already started designing websites and doing 3D printing on the side as a hobby and was thinking of turning 3D printing into a business.
My next internship was working at a company where 90% is owned by one family and where the current CEO is the son of the last CEO (who was also the founder). So 90% of all assets I build are owned by one family who isn't even me. Why would I waste my life like that? The CEO was very friendly and showed how the business operated and it confirmed with the understanding I got from Marx and so it reinforced my use of it and doubled down on it.
Unfortunately agitating for collective political actions do not get results under your control.
The results of my actions? The Prime Minister (President) of the federal government of my country is the son of a previous Prime Minister. On the provincial (state) level, the Minister (Secretary) of Red Tape Reduction is the son of a previous Premier (Governor) of the Province. All while the CEO is the son of the previous CEO and I was renting from a corporate landlord. This screams mediocrity. "If you don't like your current situation change what you're doing." so I decided I did.
After that I pursued the slowlane, got a job after the degree then achieved the point of the slowlane in under a year! I got a high paying job (from my boss who liked my hard work ethic when I was an intern), worked 12 hour days and weekends but not paid overtime because I'm salaried. Then when I was employed I saved more than 50% pre-tax income!!! By living frugally! I didn't even have a car! Literally walked everywhere on the sidewalk! I got laid off last year in the great tech layoff less than a year after starting my job. Wow! I then became unemployed and had all the time I had! I went outside, went to the gym etc. It was fun! But then it wasn't fun anymore. I split my savings into investments and emergency savings. I could only last so long. I applied to a bunch of jobs, couldn't get any. I then had to go back to my parents. I'm still applying to jobs. I came accross this book on youtube and the next time I whent to the bookstore I picked this up (I got the audiobook instead of the printed version) and learned the fastlane. I started building websites, as 3D printing was not a market I could make any headways in. I finished up my first big project and finalizing everything with the client. I made a goal stating I'd join this forum only when I finished my first project. I jumped the gun as I still haven't finished fully but would like to start to participate non the less.
Thank you MJ for showing the transformations and the roads available for those who seek to implement the benefits of the industrial revolution. And that you can be a millionaire and still be a 'nobody', hence my username "NobodyMillionair". I've taken heed and would like to be the change as opposed to being affected by them.
We'll see where my entreprenueral journey takes me. I'm still applying for jobs as the slowlane is still my backup. But hopefully, since I live in a capitalist society I will learn and become someone who benefits from the current system as opposed to someone who benefits the current system. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.
