How to Build and Grow a Newsletter as a Business Model

    GOLD! HOT! PUBLISHING
Yup. I had to deal with similar nonsense on Swapstack. It was getting worse and worse, so I just stopped using it altogether. Paved is another option. I haven't used it myself but might be better than the other two. This industry is definitely ripe for disruption.

Thanks for sharing MTF. That's very inspiring. What kind of plant-based foods do you eat? Is there any fake-meat etc involved as well?

    Writing your own story

    EXECUTION
I think you missed the point of the post ;) But, for completeness, here's why the story matters -- This is why. Success is more than just bulldozing ahead at all costs as you suggest above. Great job in editing 200 generations down to 200 years right as I was about to hit reply. I was...

    Writing your own story

    EXECUTION
I finished reading Unscripted again recently. I think this was my 3rd time around after reading it twice a few years ago. Great book btw, always inspires the crap out of me. What's crazy, though, is how I always pick something up which I completely missed in the previous reading. Now, to speed...

How to Build and Grow a Newsletter as a Business Model

    GOLD! HOT! PUBLISHING
I think it's a good idea. Like @MitchC said, it would depend on the execution. If you are passionate about chess and want to get deep in that space, then go for it. You can put a spin on it to make it fun and then promote the newsletter where chess fans hang out (reddit?, chess websites etc).

How to Build and Grow a Newsletter as a Business Model

    GOLD! HOT! PUBLISHING
I don’t think this is necessarily true. There’s a few different skills to learn here— writing, marketing and monetization. If you spend time on each one, you can easily turn this into a successful business and not have to write stuff for free. Take a look at this guy here-- Solo subscription...

Antifragile's take: The secret to scaling up.

    HOT! IDEA SCALING
Hey, great post, and loved the fish story. Thanks for sharing @Antifragile. I picked up the essence of your first post as this: Think Big but start small. I think many people either can't adjust their thinking to be bigger and get wrapped up in the small stuff (e.g., "freelancing") or just...

Introducing EVA, the forum's AI bot...

    - AI -
I like this idea. Maybe the Eva posts could be in a different color scheme or special UI, to not clutter the main posts? Eg: Green border instead of a blue one, and an "AI" tag on top. I would suggest using a GPT 4+ model though. The previous ones required a bunch of iteration which could easily...

ChatGPT AI is a huge breakthrough, a Google killer

Yeah, I'm totally using it as a coding assistant now. It even helped me find an obscure bug in one of the ios core libraries last week (google + stack overflow had nothing). Haven't tried co-pilot but gpt is awesome for this. Any particular advantages of co-pilot (@WillHurtDontCare)?

Ended up biting the bullet and getting a paid subscription. Bit pricey for what it is IMO but it was getting impossible to use without it (not sure how much of that is throttling). I would have preferred a credits model. Any one else paying for a subscription?

How to Build and Grow a Newsletter as a Business Model

    GOLD! HOT! PUBLISHING
Since I've gone through this gauntlet as well now in 2022 with my own subscription newsletter blog and am now cranking it down a notch (for the time being, to get my app out), I thought I'd share some of my findings here for anyone wanting to start one in the new year 2023, and not wanting to...

This video is a great intro to all the AI tech going around, from a business perspective. Not very tech-heavy but was very inspiring. It covers where you can get started with github's etc also. View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrNw2X-pS3g I've only looked at image-related applications...

As mentioned above, I don’t think this will replace anyone at the current stage of development (other than fiver-type work). But it’s already good enough to accelerate your business or learning. For example, I’ve been using Canva for pretty much everything for the last couple of years and...

    MINDSET EXECUTION
Thank you! Yup, absolutely! I gave up on many of my previous apps (even after months of intense development) simply because I couldn't see myself being excited about them for longer. Looking back, that does seem to always come down to me not being the end user as well. I figured the payout is...

Thanks a bunch, Andy! Appreciate it :) I was wondering how many people would end up reading the whole thing. Excited to see your results and am following your thread now (I'll subscribe to your newsletter as well). I just couldn’t continue dealing with their support and filling out all the...

The story of how I built a subscription newsletter (about entrepreneurship).

    MINDSET EXECUTION
Indeed. The whole story, I suppose, can be thought of as going from value to relative value (and silencing the inner critic, which always gets in the way). Another important lesson I learned here is that this business model is all about building trust. That, of course, only started happening...

The story of how I built a subscription newsletter (about entrepreneurship).

    MINDSET EXECUTION
It's the year 2022. Suddenly, without warning, we all seem to have gotten caught up in a recent gold rush of "newsletters." How did this happen? No one knows. Even @MJ DeMarco experienced this, as he described here. Usually, I'm pretty good at not getting sucked into trends, but around 8-9...
