Hi,

I'm looking to build it centering around lead generation but the point I have is;when promoting, would it not be better to link directly to the product you're affiliating for rather than your own web site? I mean I'm not really interested in making content I just want to build a mailing list and have ppc links around the site etc; I don't really know what I'm doing, I'm fresh, barely knew what affiliate marketing was about a week ago. Is there an advantage to having a website when marketing? If so how and why? How would I promote a simple lead generation optin page?

I did this a couple of years ago. I ran Facebook ads for dating websites which direct linked straight to the offers. Conversions were probably higher because of it, but I did all that work for someone else. I didn't have a mailing list or anything to show for it. If I did it again, I would try and capture email addresses for a mailing list.

My suggestion would be to make your landing page (where you capture email addresses) look just like the offer's page, so that you don't throw off the feel of the site for the visitors. I also suggest using something like Prosper202 for tracking. Make sure you're tracking every click.
