Awesome idea. As soon as I clicked on this thread, all I could think was, "I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike. Bicycle! Bicycle!"

lol

I wouldn't say I could have thought of that. I would say it is freaking stupid idea.

BUT once again I would be wrong. Because I just can NOT understand the things people are willing to pay good money for.

Hmmm... Depends on the price and most importantly - can you re-use it and will it deploy, once it's been deployed already.

great questions.

lol Yea that wouldn't make you any hotter while riding your bike :)

Is there a need for this? Most people I see riding already wear a bike helmet they probably paid around $40 for.

I can only imagine how expensive this new product will cost.

The Hovding costs $600. But I'm guessing that it costs a lot because it is still very much in the beginning stages. Once they can mass produce, I would think the price would go down to $100 dollars. Although that seems like a lot, it's really not much when we're talking about the difference between walking away with some bruises and smashing your skull, leading to brain damage or death.

Have they proven it is better than a $40 bike helmet? For me personally it would be like wearing a scarf, which I could not imagine doing while riding a bike especially down here in FL.

But Patrick some people are to COOL to wear one of those helmet things!!!!

10 Million in VC for this BS, WTF!!! It has to deploy when certain G's or some form of motion are detected, I can see this deploying at completely random times like when you go down stairs on a bike. Or they made the helmet trigger at higher movements and you don't take a hard fall but you manage to fall on your head, ouch, or the battery dies/malfunctions and it doesn't deploy. I would be using that 10 mill to get some quality lawyers because something like this is bound to happen eventually.

I know I think so small it is bad.

I burned my wrist pretty bad when the air bag in my car went off. Wonder if this will burn your face.

Speaking of airbags if you have ever had to replace one you know how much of a pain it is, same with this, every time it deploys you have to buy a new one or a some $X replacement. Let alone it looks absolutely ridiculous I can see a viral video with a guy just going and slapping the device when people are wearing them to make them deploy haha

Like when you were in school and a kid would knock your books out of your hands and everyone laughed.

I was the guy getting the books knocked out. Solution, I stopped carrying book lol

I think you guys are missing the point. This thing is huge. Don't think bike helmets.

Think, an airbag that comes in a slender long case that you can wrap around anything, potential put it anywhere. Where could you use this?

In arms, legs, chest area of clothing for mountain bikers, people on atvs, motorcycles. Imagine you going flying off your bike and your whole body is covered by these bags.

Elderly people's clothing?

Wrapped around laptops, ipads, cameras?

Strollers?

This technology if perfected would be huge.

That's why they got $10million

Oh I agree 100% it is HUGE.

I personally would never buy one and think it is ridiculous. My sort of thinking is exactly why I find it difficult to create products which I believe people are interested in.

Just add this to the list of things I think are stupid for people to throw good money after such as Starbucks, cel phone cases, ring tones and on and on a million times over.

I feel the same exact way about sales and marketing.

I probably wouldn't get one because I don't mind my bike helmet and it looks hot and cumbersome now. Hopefully they can make it thinner in the future. But I do wear elbow pads, knee and shin guards when I ride and they are cumbersome and hot. If I could replace those by attaching something like that to the sleeves on my shirt and the outer edges of my shorts, I'd do it in a second... and I would think many mountain bikers would too.

Patrick, you must have some things that you feel you need that may some stupid to someone who is not into the same activity?

Yes you are right and that is where my business is. BUT I am now 99% free of working on it so I am trying to find something else to occupy my time.

Walking on the beach is GREAT! But 3 or 4 times a week even that gets old lol

Thanks!
