How can I get users on my forum?

I have a new forum that promotes my book that I just finished writing about a psychological problem.

I built an email list before I created the forum that people pledged to have me build the site because they wanted help.

I sent the email out about 2 days ago and still none of them signed up. I have YouTube videos which give useful advice and point to the forum now but I don't seem to be getting any conversions.

I have been making a habit of posting questions tips and answers on the forum everyday. Obviously like anything it's going to take a bit of work to grow but just wondering if anyone had any more tips for me.

Create some questions and ask the people on the list what do they want? Ask them why they have not signed up? Use this information to adjust your format. Also, you may simply need to promote it more. Finally, do a little astro turfing where it appears there is some activity going on besides you just posting tips. People want to join an active forum so make up a few other usernames and create some discussions. You can pay people to help you do this.

Can you post a link to the forum? That might help some of us create some answers. (It also might help you get some traffic too.)

I would love to post a link, however, I beg that no one makes fun of the disorder. I found a problem and I knew how to solve it. I built the email list before I spent the time to write the book, so I did not feel like I wasted my time.

Create 20-25 accounts start posting. Also, get do follow backlinks by posting on Blogs and Forums related to yours if you can. Try keywords that are less competion. Also, never give up stick with it you will find out it takes lots of work i easily put in 14 hour days doing backlinks.
