Email solution

Hey,

I have a list of 200,000 subscribers and we use phplister (free open source software) to send emails from our server. This is FREE.

We looked around and can't believe how much companies are charging to send out emails. $5000 a month. That's just ridiculous. Is there a paid but REASONABLE solution out there?

That is quite a list, congrats!

What type of emails do you send? For newsletter type emails, MailCheat(Chimp) is excellent and has great pricing.

Why are you looking for a paid service if you're using a free one?

I want something that lets us easily track conversion rates, open rates, bounces, etc... Does sendy does those things?

- Self Hosted
- Cheaper than MailCheat(Chimp) and such for big lists
- Harder to inbox
- Requires (or recommended) an SMTP service for IP reputation managament (SMTP.com for example)
- Tolerates high bounce rates (low quality lists) if you chose the right server in combination of SMTP.com


MailCheat(Chimp), AWeber, iContact, ...
- No big setup
- Easier to inbox
- Require very clean lists (double opt-ins, low bounce rates)
- Rather expensive
- Check if they allow you to import big lists

Uses Amazon's SES service - I heard good things about it.

$0.10 per 1000 emails is super cheap plus the Amazon SES service has very good deliver-ability by all accounts which is also highly important.

Problem with sendy is they dont really offer segmentation and automation (apart from autoresponders).

Currently diving more into MailCheat(Chimp). Expensive but really liking it. You can do a lot of cool stuff by combining their segmentation, automation and ecommerce360 features.

MailCheat(Chimp) seems to get expensive after 50k subscribers because thats when their unlimited sending stops and you can only send 1,6M/month.

Since my list is only 7k right now I will probably use it until my list grows to around 50k, then switch to an enterprise solution like maropost.
