@codo3500 & I thought: ah man dayum!!!! Well that idea is pretty much out the window, let's move onto the next idea. Let's pursue that Brazzers with an Aussie twist idea (think shrimp on a Barbie doll)
Hahahaha! Shrimp on a barbie doll. It always comes back to porn with you guys...
'This isn't going to work... Maybe we should think of something else... I'VE GOT IT! PORN!' lol

So how'd this pan out anyway? Did you guys end up pursuing it further?

Any updates? Curious about this one.
Hey LibertyForMe!

Unfortunately this one hit the sidelines as the barrier for entry seemed insurmountable at the time. Australian Standards on the product we were looking to import were very complicated. The chinese models were nowhere near the right standard, and the current manufacturers (all Japan, USA or Australia) were unwilling to sell us any units.

Definitely one we'll look into in the future, but it'll take a large bankroll to get going.

@codo3500 can you go into how you found the process the industry was using to make a purchase?

Meet a woman that started a website for contractors to place a order of supplies needed for each job (wood, cement, bolts, etc...) and suppliers would bid on each order. She would then take a cut of each bid. She is making millions from this. That was the first time I knew entrepreneurs could add some serious value to old industries.

@mars -
Basically just cold-called a heap of tradesman in the industry. This was the fastest route - they told me exactly where they bought the product, what brand, where that brand was manufactured, and why they chose that brand.

Here's a tip, I didn't call up trying to sell them, I called up and said the following:
"Hi there, my name is Jared, and I'm an importer. This is a bit of a weird question, but I was wondering if you could tell me a little bit about <Product Name>, as I'm considering importing some." They then became VERY helpful.

By the end of the call, they were telling me they were sick of the high prices they were paying, and many said they would spend thousands with me as soon as I get some if I could beat the current market prices by even 10%, as they use so many.
