Has anyone live in Australia before?? How is it like for an immigrant from the USA??? There are job opportunities down there for me to make 90 bucks an hr (like that's an average... not a good night), as a gogo dancer *without* a visa... I'm doing more research to make sure the market is good enough. I am willing to move down there in 2-3 months (I have enough to go there, and hardly enough to come back if shit hits the pan... but I'll make it work though). If I make 400 bucks a night, I'm happy.

The thing that scares me the most is that I'll go down there, and be shock that the industry isn't too much different from here. And I'm in no man's land, illegal immigrant, can't find another job.... (scary stuff like that), but then again life is too short to be scared of that stuff. I'm okay with homelessness though... it's really not the end of the world, and it seems the biggest expense in Australia.

I'm sick of trying to save up my penny and nickels, since you need money to make money. If I work a minimum wage job or even a "entry-middle class" job I would make 15-30k... and in Australia I could make way over 100k. I could come back to the US, and start a business on a more solid ground.

*I don't understand it though, but it's probably because I'm thinking as an American versus an Australian...*

*I assume without a visa based on the blog I read because Americans go down there and make a ton just off their accent*

I think you need to look at this from a product differentiation standpoint. I mean what ethnicity are you? If you are white you might want to move to Asia or South America and get to work and vice-versa. I mean they might pay big money in Japan for a white go-go dancer etc. You wouldn't just want to be the another white girl a sea of white girls, so might find an area with little to no ethic variations and get to work ....that's if you are a girl.

I would say go visit the country for 1 month. Find out about the laws, the economy, real estate affordability, etc. Temporary residence may be the way to go...And I think you have to meet certain criterias for moving over there(obviously) as their immigration laws seem pretty strict. I'm not sure they accept anybody. I think you should see an immigration/emigration consultant, if this is serious. Imo, the best way is to talk with those who have done it, and go lurk in expatforums. The world is full of opportunities, you might want to explore other countries as well.

Well I already do this as a living... In Detroit. The money isnt bad but if I could make much more why not? As of now its the only career choice in where I get total freedom with management and I make 2x-4x min wage. It varies though.

This isnt a joke thread since Im not trying to rustle feathers for attention. If no one knows a thing about iAustralia please dont respond.

Homelessness is not cool in Australia, Have you seen their bugs and snakes and spiders and all sort of alien creatures? Nah. Not even for a day.

At least you have kangaroos and koalas to keep you warm at night :D

In the cities, the closest you usually get to those deadly creatures is in the zoo, museums and on TV. Out the city is a different story.

Not sure where these figures came from as this is not the average pay in Australia. Yes, you can make this kind of money and a lot more if you are a professional or prepared to work 12hr days out on a mine site. If you are coming here legally (457 visa) then expect to pay a bucket load in taxes not to mention the cost of housing, food, entertainment etc. To be honest I cannot imagine being able to live on $400/day - it would be a basic existence rather than a comfortable life. Having said that its still the best Country I have ever been to - I moved here 22 years ago and it was the best decision ever - you couldn't pay me any amount of money to move back to England!!! There are more likely to be some good business opportunities and maybe that is the angle you should be looking at - can you leverage your knowledge about the USA market and supply goods/services to Australia? Could you sell Australian services over there? Happy to chat further if you want to PM me. PS - beware of scams, if people are telling you that its OK to come here on a tourist visa and work illegally then be careful - you are taking all the risk, not them!! Good luck

You can't be a stranger and be homeless, they would send you back to your original country for sure. It's like the value tread from socal dude. No value, no success.

I doubt that.... the police in the United States do not bother the homeless. I was homeless before, and as long as you're clean/blend in people don't bother you. It shouldn't be different in Australia, since I am going down there like a tourist would.

As long as the work down there is in cash, I could do fine. Although I have to contact my future employer(s) down there to see how they operate. If they are willing to hire me as soon as I get down there, then I am packing my bags. I thought it out and I need to get a visa too. I already have a passport. It would be stupid to go homeless in a foreign country if I'm not working. Just wasting my time.

I found cheap prices for 400-500 to get there, which I can do.

As far as employment, I am not going to find out if the pay rates are better till I move. I could guess a lot about it though, but the only way of finding out is moving there.

If I don't move there, it will only be because it's more complicated to get work there than I previously thought. If the employers need a lot of paper work or something like that.

-----

Thanks for the responses.

I bought a ticket to Los Angeles. I decided not to go to Australia because it's a stupid idea. So it's L.A., sad but true, buying this ticket was harder than buying a house, since this is going to change my life forever.

But I have to go now, since there's nothing here for me anymore. And I need money more than ever now (to repair my new house). I'm so looking forward to this.

I'll arrive on August 1st, 2013.

Why don't you do some webcam stuff for some side cash? And out of curiosity, what do you need done on your house? There's ways to get things done on property without money.

You should have done the weight average decision matrix and the worst case consequence analysis and do it seriously. Anyway I hope it's a good decision for you.

I am content with my decision. There's too many variables to measure though, but at least I know one thing, I'll have more money than I ever imagine before. I'll use that money as investments.

I bought a ticket to Los Angeles.

I get the impression from a couple of your posts that you are seriously trying to become a porn star. If I'm right, do you really have no better idea on what to do with your life?
