Basically talks about the changes that happened when the internet was born, and hypothecates about similar shifts with self-driving cars. Lots of business opportunities to those paying attention.

Just finished the article...and while interesting, it's terribly frightening to me. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but all I see is more intrusion/control by gov't and "big business". If the concept of the "ownership of personal property" is gone, then so is a great degree of control over your own life.

Or maybe I'm just an old crank that still owns his own music.

I agree with many of your points. I agree that the author is very blue-eyed optimist about the future and oblivious to the realities.

Particularly the oil companies going bust. Electric cars still need a power source, and no, solar won't cut it if every car on the road is electric.

Then there's the Trolley Problem: should the car be programmed to sacrifice the occupants to save 5 other people?
