You know what's sad?

I cannot identify any ONE book which I'd label "Best I've ever read" which is probably why I was motivated to write my two books.

I've read a lot of good books that have been instrumental to learning, but I've never said "best ever".

Possibly because it isn't a fair question (no disrespect to the OP of course). It's like asking who your favorite the athlete is. If you only follow football and basketball then it's easy to answer. But what if you follow MMA, baseball, soccer, cricket, ultimate frisbee, crossfit, and platypus hunting? It gets a whole lot harder to say who your favorite is then.

If you've read four books in your life, ranking them is no problem. But if you read extensively and across different categories, it gets a lot harder. Answering what your favorite piece of literary fiction is easier than choosing across all genres. And even then, it can be a nightmare.

I'll give it a whirl.

Contemporary Fiction: Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk
Business: Unscripted by MJ (and not just because he runs the forum!)
Literary Fiction: Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad
Fantasy: Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin
Other: Trust Me, I'm Lying by Ryan Holiday

History is one of those categories where it's impossible to pick just one. If you wanna break it down into "American History", "Military History", etc then I could probably come up with the best.

Very difficult to say, probably these are the ones that first come to my mind:

Business/Management: TMF -MJ de Marco , Wooden on Leadership: How to create a winning organization.

Fiction: Narcissus and Goldmund-Hermann Hesse

History: Sapiens-Yuval Noah Harari (Homo Deus is also very good)

Biography: The autobiography of Malcolm X-Malcolm X

Our judgment to brand a book as a "best read ever" is relative to the books that we previously read. What may be best for others may average/worst for you or what may be best for you is just average/worst for others.

If you are looking for a book suggestion after reading TMFL and Unscripted here are my list.
The one thing
Zero to one
Slight edge
Be obsessed or be average (get the audiobook)
