Great read for anyone who publishes works (like me) subject to content thieves...

Supreme court rulings make it a bit harder for copyright owners to bring a suit and collect.

In short, don't skip registration. For instance, both my books are registered copyrights with the copyright office and I've have used those official forms to get corporate a-holes (I'm calling you out EBAY!) to remove illegal distributions.

I read the article and noted this part:

To satisfy the United States’ obligations under the Berne Convention (dispensing with an array of formalities attendant to copyright protection), owners of foreign works of authorship are not subject to the registration requirements of the Statute. Copyright Act Sections 101 (definition of “United States work”); 411(a), first sentence.
So, if I read this correctly, as long as you register your copyrights in a country that's subject to the Berne Convention (such as Canada), your copyrights will still be respected in the U.S.
