I was researching the cost of living in Argentina right now (Dirty cheap btw) .... when I ended up on a youtube video about a American living in Colombia as a digital nomad.

This video was really interesting to me because the guy decided to help out a single mom from Venezuela that's just started a fruit stall in Colombia, but struggling to get customers because apparently over there customers are loyal to their vendors (i.e they keep going back to the same vendor and have rapport with them etc.)

Rather than just giving her $100 or whatever it is - he instead decided to stay there and help her skew her value proposition & create an irresistible offer that spread the word about the new vendor and fruit stall.

It started off slow, but in the end people are queued around the block (not literally but you get the idea) - to get her offer.

Great business lessons - create an irresistible offer to help get the word out about your brand/business - then hopefully through word of mouth & the laws of respriciation some of those people will return and spend money with you in the near future.

Enjoy

Take it from personal experience. I would never recommend Argentina for a foreigner to live. Disregarding the cost of living (Which can be misleading, because maybe renting an apartment or several day to day items are cheap in dollars but good clothes, vehicles and good food items are not) it is extremely harsh for entrepreneurs. Very few imported goods at an affordable price, no financial freedom, no liberty on currency exchanges (for example if you make 1 dollar out of the country, if you want to spend it with your debit card, you will get around 55% of the actual monetary value on the informal market for currencies), you cannot send money out or get money in unless you take that loss, and many more. Crime is insanely high specially for foreigners, you become a target right away. Taxes are insanely high as well, and even though salaries are dirty cheap at the moment, having employees in Argentina is a very expensive and harsh burden. It is like adopting a grown up that you cannot fire or modify work terms without losing a house in the process. Judicial system is virtually non existing, having eternal processes in place (I had cases taking over 10 years to get into a decision) and government departments are insanely slow and difficult to overcome in regards to red tape unless you go down the dark route.

In short, it is a great place to visit or study since University is free in most cases, but a very bad place to live as an entrepreneur. If you do well, you cannot even have a really nice car or motorcycle or watch, because not only they are insanely expensive, but they are not existing in most cases. If you do move around in a fancy way you will become a target pretty soon and your movements would be very limited compared to first world countries. (Lots of places where you cannot go and if you do, you are on your own).

All this out of real experience and accurate comparisons since I lived all my life there and spent a lot of time in the USA and Europe, so I believe I know how to put it in perspective.

Great for you to visit though and if I am around I will be happy to help you or give you pointers, but definitely is not a good destination for an entrepreneur to live permanently.

In regards of Colombia, I don´t really know the country. I have been there just a couple of times so I would not know.
