Hi everyone!

My name is Michael and I’m new to this forum. I’m 29 years old and I live in The Netherlands with my wife and son.

I work as a freelance web developer specialised in an open source e-commerce system. Although I make good money with it, I be aware of the fact that I’m dependent of the hours I can work (trade time for money) and the last couple of months I’m thinking of ways about how I could change this and where I want to be in life.

I read a few books and after finishing TMF last week I came across this forum which feels like a perfect find on my path which hopefully brings me some new ideas and puts me in touch with other like minded people.

In my spare time I like to read a book and enjoy good food with a nice glass of wine.

See you around!

Welcome to the forum! Which open source e-commerce system do you focus on? And more importantly, what's your preferred variety of wine? ;)

Welcome to the forum, are you working with Magento? What are the opportunities you think are available to you right now given your background? Plugin development, freelancing, agency? Good luck in any endeavor you choose.

Thanks! The e-commerce system I'm focussing on is Magento. All orders on Vivino definitely includes red wine from the Primitivo grape (Italy). A good SB is often on the packing slip too ;).

Thanks! Yes, I'm working with Magento for almost 10 years already. I've gathered my experience as an employee at several internet companies and now I'm freelancing for the last 4 years. So I already made the first steps to have more control and freedom (what already enriched my life) but I have a strong desire for more by putting my money to work and to be less independent on the hours I can make. At this moment I don't know yet how I want to achieve this but I try to keep my eyes open for any opportunity, not necessarily in my own work field.

Hey Michael, welcome to the forum :)

Sounds like you already got some pretty good skills with building webshops.

Since you already have skills in those areas, I would suggest you learn online marketing in addition. All you need then is a quality product and you will have a business right there:

Online shop + Good marketing + Quality Product and Fulfillment = Productocracy

Looking forward to some interesting discussions, feel free to msg me anytime!

Hi Michael, nice to (e)meet :) Ecommerce is an interesting field, looking forward seeing your story develop into one of the success stories on this forum. As you've been looking into strategies to get rid of the money-time situation, I'm wondering if you already came up with ideas to evolve your business? Look forward hearing about your thoughts.

Lastly, I just joined and noticed you're dutch as well. I'm from Amsterdam!

Best,
Koen

Hi Champion,

Thank you for your reply!

Good suggestion! Building a good webshop and learn or invest in online marketing won't be the problem. But besides finding a good product, I think there are some other major challenges. Will certainly send you a message in the short term to exchange thoughts!

Hi Koen, nice to meet you too! Cool to see other Dutch people here on this forum. What is your story, are you planning to start an introduction topic as well?

I already came up with some ideas to get rid of the time for money situation and executed some in the form of outsourcing parts of my work and starting a few managed Forex accounts but nothing what hits the fastlane and meet the CENTS commandments yet.

Hope to speak to you more often!

Haha ya, the Dutch are everywhere. I'm planning on writing my introduction topic tonight! Lots to say about the road I traveled and some challenges faced.

Good idea to start outsourcing. Human employment is also a way to meet the CENTS. Though Forex, I believe that's investment stuff. Always interesting when eventually meeting the 'money system target' ^_^ Stay in touch man, good you added me on Linkedin!

Welcome brother! Oprah Winfrey once said -"You have to do what is hard, until you can do what you love". Whatever you did before consider it as a preparation for a Fastlane journay. Wish you Good luck ;)
