Hi all,
My first post on the forum after reading UNSCRIPTED just recently (read TMF many years ago).
I was hoping somebody could provide some input on monetising a comparison site that operates in a very boring industry. I'm based in Asia, and there is a service that most people must use regularly (at cost of $50-100 per time).
There are tons of companies offering this service, but the industry is incredibly boring/backdated.
Hence, very few have good websites, and I haven't seen one that allows online payments or real online bookings. Its mainly call to arrange an appointment and pay cash upon completion.
I have been doing research into setting up a comparison site for such service, but see that the main monetisation method is through affiliates, which wouldn't work for the above reason.
Any idea how this could work?
I am sure the service would provide value to the customers (the idea was born out of my own frustration with the laborious method).
Ideas so far
- Pay per lead
- Monthly subscription for business to be on the website
Bit of a chicken and egg though, as I would need a customer-base before charging a business. How can I build a customer base without any businesses added?
Thanks
Matt
