Hi all.
I have been lurking this forum for years and am finally introducing myself.
I am a 27 year old guy in Florida who has been working in Public Accounting doing Quickbooks/Small Business Accounting, for the past 3 years, since graduating with my Accounting Degree in 2015.
I couldn't take the standard cubicle life anymore, so for the past year and a half, I have been putting significant efforts into building internet skills.
My dream is to be able to make money remotely, and take advantage of this internet money age.
Currently I am neck deep in learning the Adobe Creative Cloud (mainly Photoshop, AE, Illustrator).
My short-term goals are to eventually make good money by freelancing logo creations, typography, photo editing, photography sessions, and making money via other internet endeavors, content creations, and via social media.
For the past 9 months I have been teaching myself photography and photoshop, mainly through YouTube and many, random hours of googling and experimentation. My girlfriend and I are both heavily teaching ourselves how to be great photographers, and we shoot pretty much every day, which we are proud of.
I also have marketable small business bookkeeping and tax prep skills that I am looking to freelance as well.
As you can see, I'm all over the place in terms of being involved in 'probably' too much...
My concern is this.
I know it is not good to be a jack of all trades and aspiring to do many different things (because it is best to be a specialist right?), but at the same time I like where I'm at because I am becoming proficient in skills that I will undoubtably use for the next many years . The reason I chose this path, and to not settle for my 'staff accountant at a small CPA firm' job is because I am genuinely confident that these skills will be a good fit with my personality as I enter my late 20's, 30's, and 40's, and I think it can produce the lifestyle that I know I want to have.
I'm excited to connect with other aspiring, or experienced entrepreneurs, and to receive critique, feedback, or advice on my journey.
Thanks in advance for all and any of your feedback.
Cheers,
Cory
