CLICK TO VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITE EBOOK COVER!

As some of you know from my other thread, I wrote an eBook. I'm a little unsatisfied with the current cover and have been trying to get some opinions from others in regards to layout, font, design, etc. To sum it up, my book is a funny compilation of sarcastic work stories. So in the cover, I'd like to convey both "work related" as well as "funny".

I'm likely going to have 4 people design covers on Fiverr (Why not, it's $20 for some different cover designs). But until then, here is what I have:

My original cover - The issue is with the Papyrus font mainly, although I'm not really in love with the image either. Could a possible font change make this cover work?

This is one that my girlfriend and I put together. She's interviewing me, the idiot applicant, and she doesn't like my resume. And I thought the mirror imagery was symbolic of my upside down employment history. (This one might look better without the picture effects, but you get the idea of what I'm going for.)

This is me being a tool:

And this is a basic picture that could also work:

Please post any and all opinions/suggestions!

Thanks.

I'm speaking from a consumers point of view. The original is probably still the best. The other covers make me think I'm looking at a self-help book for job seekers. I do agree that it needs a font change.

I only like the first one. I would change the main title font to something else. I think after that edit it will look sharp!

I find 3 pretty hilarious but I don't know if I see it as a book cover. Maybe change how the text is and use a clearer image if you have one.

BTW, your other thread inspired me to write a short ebook the other day. 2 days of writing in my free time and I have a short 7500 word ebook on my hands. Thanks for the motivation :icon_super:

Thanks man! Glad I could inspire you. Bottom line: If you enjoy what you're writing about, it'll feel like you're not even working. Write every chance you get. Before you know it, you'll have something. Edit, edit edit!

If you have any questions, let me know.

One idea might be to adjust the paper on the cover and put the title of the book as if it is on the resume being burned.

I agree with not using papyrus. If you go with my suggestion of putting it on the burning paper you could use something like courier or some other "typewriter" font. You're "burning" the old way of doing things.

Thanks for that link, Evan. It looks like there's some good advice there. I'll have some new options up for critique very soon. I want to make sure I get the cover right. There isn't much time to make a good first impression on a customer when they're scanning eBooks.

I spent $15 on Fiverr, paying for 3 covers. One person made me 2 of them, and I'm still waiting for one person to finish. But here's the 3 I received so far. All I told them was the name, a possible quote from a review that I'd like to use, and I told them to make it funny and work related. You can see the first person didn't quite grasp funny, but made it work related. And the second person just made 2 because they weren't sure. More opinions are welcome.

I don't like them. How about using the will work for tons of money photo in the same style as the bottom two but make the top text smaller and get rid of the bottom quote?
