Hello everyone, i didn't post much there, just been reading the forums and i got lots and lots of knowledge from it.

Anyways, today i stumbled upon this article which seems interesting, what do you think?

I’m sick of it. The term “Lifestyle Business”. From Wikipedia: A lifestyle business is a business that is set up and run by its founders primarily with the aim of sustaining a particular level of income and no more; or to provide a foundation from which to enjoy a particular lifestyle.
Right, I get it, most people who live on the beach and teach surf lessons have a “lifestyle business”. They have an awesome, simple life, and don’t desire any more income than they need to sustain their lifestyle.
Then came Tim Ferriss. The Four Hour Work Week introduced the concept of “lifestyle design”, and said that we should build a business that gives us what we want out of life. Tim said that everyone should take the time to consider why they do what they do, and find out a way to support those dreams.

It's not usually proper to post something and ask what other people think without first giving your own thoughts. To do so smells like link baiting.:eusa_naughty:

I gleaned the same thing from this post. I was waiting for your input but it never came. Your post led us to believe that YOU hated the term "lifestyle business", not someone else. What do YOU think?

Personally, I say if it works and they give value then let them be successful.

Yes i agree, the title might seem a little confusing. Well, i think people can chose there, but i would like to build a business around my lifestyle, or a lifestyle around my business. Don't see any wrong with that.

I think the idea is that you when you're choosing a job, any job, you're choosing a lifestyle. If you want your lifestyle to be about traveling the world, make sure you have a job that supports that. If you want your lifestyle to be about making a company that changes the world, make sure you have a job that supports that.

The article didn't seem that coherent to me.

As long as you're in business (positive cash flow), you can call it whatever the hell you want. If I'm making money, I'm winning! Some businesses are inherently more difficult to scale than others without an influx of cash, so they can become more "lifestyle" oriented but I don't think any were set up with the expectations that when we reach revenue XXXXXXXXXX we're just going to stop growing and chill.

Looked like a linkbait title to an article that never needed to be written. I know, I've written a few in the past :)

Use emotional words like "hate" and "die" to bring attention to what was probably just written to meet a BLOG quota for the week.

Didn't find much value in it to be honest.

Do what you want to do. I value money more than lifestyle. My money "affords" my lifestyle.

Cheers
Rick
