Default I had a great idea, but it was implemented already... Advice?

Hi all, I need your advice please. I am an electrical engineer, and I have been working for 10 years in the industry and I suffered a lot... ( I hate being on a payroll). I read Millionaire and it blew my mind. So I had this great idea, and I even got a programmer to do it (in exchange for full partnership). Then I quit my job to focus totally on my idea. And then, I saw it is being implemented as one of the features of the Safari browser. The idea is not implemented in any of the other major browsers (and I checked) Firefox, Explorer, Chrome - not in the same way that is.
My question is, should I still invest in my idea or look for something else? I am really frustrated and I really really don't want to go back to the slavery market.

    Thanks in advance...

It's going to be impossible for anyone to help you on the information you have provided. As its been implemented already why the secrecy!!
As with anything which has already been done see how it has been implemented now and do it better. Don't let competition put you off look at Apple they were not the first company to manufacture an MP3 player.........see where they are now.

    Do it better.

If you honestly don't think you can do it better, then save yourself the anguish and ditch the idea. There's no room in business for half-assing things.

If it is already a free feature on a free piece of software, monetizing it directly might be difficult.

Did you have a solid monetization plan for the software before you noticed it was in Safari?

LOL Did you want to start a Monopoly or something?

Pretty much everything is already being done. But the key is execution.

As a matter of fact anytime a fellow Entrepreneur says "I can't come up with a business idea, I don't know where to start". I just tell them to Google "promising start ups" then choose a start up to compete with, Bam! there you go. If you crash and burn, so what? Nothing tragic happened, nobody died. The experience of failure is worth way more than what you put in.
