What is 2023-2024's drop-shipping/gold-rush?

People are still flooding into the Social Media Agencies/Fitness person selling courses genres.

My in-person networking group is full of people "trying" these things for a few months then flaming out.

A few of us have a name for them... the "I just want 2-3k a month to live in Bali preneur"

Whats even more interesting is that the ones who do actually succeed in running a big business in this field eventually pivot a few years later into something else and do even better.

One current gold rush is sports betting/casino gaming in states where it has become legal: both in terms of winning as a player (from new player acquisition bonuses, among other ways) or providing content about those topics.

My prediction is AI, specifically Custom GPTs

OpenAI has made custom GPTs available for its plus users: Introducing GPTs

Basically, you can train ChatGPT based on your private data.

Some people I know already create their own GPT by feeding it their books. Later, these Custom GPTs can be sold in GPT store.

If you're a part of the older generation, you would remember the Facebook apps and Mobile apps gold rush. To me, this looks the same.

Clearly AI. I thought it was just hype. I was more than skeptical. But it's here for real, and it's just evolving and evolving. There's been a couple of AI bubble bursts over the decades, but now the hardware is ready for the ride. Either get on or turn into a dinosaur.

I just hope they don't build something too crazy that ends up wiping us out (for good, to be fair) or in hands of terrorists. If someone thinks this is a joke, just see the big fish being proactive about regulating this stuff to avoid bad surprises in the near future. This is comparable to the crypto bros going to the government and asking to regulate crypto; did you see that happening? Me neither. But it's happened with AI, so what's baking is no joke and can go either great or terribly wrong.
