Sounds awesome.

This is 100% happening for January/February.

The only thing I can't decide is whether to get qualified or not. The CELTA would cost me around £1800 (which I don't really have), or maybe I could just do a weekend course for £200 and see how that goes.

Cool man, that will be one great adventure for sure. I wish you luck. Again, I have never been a teacher so feel free to disregard this post... But here are my thoughts...

I was seriously considering being a teacher at one point. I asked my friend if I should get the TEFL. He said it's a waste of time and money. I can work without it. Of course, it wouldn't hurt if you got it. If you want this to be your life long career you might get a better job with it... But if you are a native English speaker, well dressed and white, you can get a job without any qualifications in China, Vietnam and Cambodia. Just what my friends who are really teaching told me. The cash you blow on that course could be better spent living out here for a month and networking.
