Does anyone know an exceptional development company in India or overseas? We are looking to get an iphone app done exactly like (top notch UI/UX and design) https://favordelivery.com/ and https://deliveroo.co.uk/.

We have gotten burned by a company called go goigi and are very cautious about finding a development company that is top notch. Thanks

Why are you looking for a development company overseas? If you're strapped for cash then just program it yourself? That way you'll know exactly the progress being made and it'll be exactly how you want it down to every detail. All this time spent looking for a company could've been spent on making an app. In fact the app would've probably been completed by now with all the time spent with go goigi.

I'm not kidding. I've already made a couple of apps and server/desktop apps myself. It really depends on the app but many apps can be entirely completed by one person in about 10-20 weeks. If it's a game app then you'll probably need help to make all those textures. Here's the thing about making apps yourself. If the app fails then what do you lose? Just time. No big deal. However if you have to spend money to make an app and your first app fails, how are you going to make another app without money?

If you don't know programming and you're making an app for the foundation of a new business (not an existing) then you're in the wrong industry. If however you already have a business making 10+ million in revenue then hiring a team to make an app for an existing business can be a great choice. The failure rate for apps is extremely high.

Its a pretty complex app and its for an existing business...

Did you check upwork(elance/odesk)?

Also i advice against India. Have been outsourcing projects for last 5 years and never had good experience with Indian providers.
Had much better luck with Eastern Europeans and Vietnamese companies/induviduals.

Yeah Ive used upwork in the past and checked around, but didnt see any that really stuck out.

Would you mind sharing some of the teams you have had success with? Appreciate the advice!

it's ecommerce niche. Not apps. Hope someone can step in with recommendation.

Here is the strategy i use on odesk/elance:
Create the job, create very detailed description. MAKE IT INVITE ONLY.
Divide in MILESTONES (here you will need at least basic understanding of how things work)
Than search for providers with best feedback. Read the reviews. Search for long contracts(long contract = big change of good provider)
When you invite 25 'best' providers, only 5-7 usually would reply/be available.
Interview. Choose 1 you like most. Offer them first test milestone. There is very big chance it will be good. If not, choose 2nd best, etc.
Trick is to make 1st milestone not to big to minimize possible losses, but not to small - to test the skills.

Also my advice - don't be cheap. I like to say this to myself: "Do it fast, do it cheap, do it well: pick two."

I just reviewed your past posts. Supposedly you need 200k to expand your cannabis business. I would advise against making an app in that case because your money could be better spent. If you don't even have 200k in cash you definitely can't afford to lose money making an app. Try implementing your business idea as a website and if it doesn't work as a website then just give up on it. However genius you might think your idea is it's probably going to be a money pit and a big waste of time.

Why would you try to succeed in an industry where 99.99% of apps fail? If we assume there's a 99.99% failure rate and the average app costs $30,000 to make then that means that ROI on the sucessful ones would probably have to be at least 10-20 million for the average ROI to not be negative.

If your app has anything to do with cannabis then it'll probably fail. There's nothing I can think of where you absolutely need an app for a service. Using your app would probably be purely a luxury but not a necessity. There's websites, phones, yelp, and search engines. People will ALWAYS use those 4 methods first before even thinking about using an app.

My advise would be to give up and work on something else instead.

LOL I considered not responding to this post, because it was so dumb, but oh well.

This isnt for a cannabis company, thats another company we own, but I always appreciate a fan.

I see you just joined the forum a few days ago. Best advice would be to delete your account immediately and head back to your job at McDonalds.

Very well. I don't have a thriving business yet and have no idea how I'm going to make it but I do know apps aren't the way to go given the odds. Good luck, you're going to need it.

Just a friendly word of advice for anyone who comes across this thread.

A. If you dont know what you are talking about, it is better to just move along, rather than hijacking a thread.

B. If you think you know what you are talking about, get all of the information first, THEN use that information to provide some advice.

We are an existing business that is creating an app to streamline our GPS location services and also make it more convenient for our customers. We have received small amounts of outside funding to achieve this goal, and are looking for a cost effective way to get it done. If you can get the same service done in India for a 1/3 the price, that is a smart way to go.

Lets Get-R-Done!

haha...this is funny. I ran across this yesterday and wish I would have responded this way.

I do know of a Chinese development company that I'd recommend. I'll PM you my phone number and you can call me to discuss and I can make a proper introduction.

I have a company that writes custom software, (managing the development process, including requirements writing and QA) but the value-add that we provide doesn't sound like it would be important to you. I'd be happy to introduce you to the development team. They charge 30-40 an hour for this type of work, by the way.

I am working with a development team in India. We went way past budget and deadline. However I'm still happy with their work. I don't blame them because it is a pretty complex platform with a lot of functions on the front and back end. Let me know if you're interested and/or current team doesn't work out for you.

I don't know why you would give this type of advice without knowing anything about the project? I was about to quit my fastlane project because of you. Not really.

I've made a shortlist on Upwork of several candidates I liked and then given them each the same test task to see how they did. I got results I could compare to each other and while I threw out some - I didn't waste time going serially, although it did cost some.

You can tell a lot by the professionalism wrapped around the deliverable itself: the quality of communication, etc.

good luck.
