I've read thru a few pages and wish I would have seen this MUCH earlier.... For someone whos just getting into this, could someone break this down to a quick beginners guide... I'd definitely love to start buying as soon as I know what is going on.... :)

If you want to be lazy, buy all that you can and hold until it gets to the point you want to sell. Get a good calculator that can show a lot of decimals and be sure to check BTC/LTC trading pairs to make sure you're not overpaying on newer coins.

In terms of having an info page, it would be good if it was possible to edit the first post! but unfortunately I can't?

I don't know where we are in terms of a bubble, but it's absolutely crazy you could have tossed $10k in BTC at the start of the year and been a millionaire less than a year later.

Ok, well, that ship has sailed. My question is if there is another ship on the horizon. I know I missed the BTC boat. Ive watched BTC for three years (DOH) and now, I'm looking to do something similar to you. I just want to know a bit so I dont get my a$$ handed to me.

Leaf dev has put a vote up for implementing Kimoto Gravity Well.

If you're on bitcointalk and you got some LEAF please vote yes!

Tell me about it. I think I heard about BTC 4-5 years ago. It's crazy a $10-$100 investment then would have you set for life. My background is in value investing, so I'm pretty skeptical about these sorts of things. However, I've decided to gamble a little knowing full well everything may go to zero.

Alty had an extreme benefit making his initial BTC investment in October. If he had done it in November or later, he'd be down and would have missed the crazy run-up in all alts around that time. If you had adopted a "buy everything" strategy even in October, you would be up an insane amount now. Even JunkCoin (come on, the name itself tells you something), is up about x250 in the last 180 days.

Would you mind PMing me?

You can PM me if you want. Really though, I don't have much more to say that I am buying a little of everything :p I look at the orderbook and try to take a little liquidity from the sellers and try to get my orders filled in a decent amount of time. Before, I used to do 24hour lows, but missing out on the crazy DogeCoin rush made me lose whatever I gained on the rest of the alts. Before, I got 65k for my order. For the same amount like 3-4 days later, I only got 5k.

I would also say you could potentially get decent returns just using Cryptsy. Wait about a week once new coins are added for pump and dumps to be over, but otherwise, buy equal amounts of everything they have. You just need 1 coin to make a return to break even depending on its multiple when you sell. I am being completely greedy though and trying to also get alts before they hit Cryptsy and holding.

Keeping track of all those coins must be difficult.

How do you profit on the rises? are your sell orders set from day 1?

I don't really keep track of them to be honest yet. Once I've made my max investment, I will then consider putting out sell orders at some multiple or multiples, say x10, x100, x1000. It's hard though since for some coins, I have greater than 50 orders and can't see what my blended cost basis is.

Then again, I'm considering being absolutely crazy and leaving them open and then selling them all at a point where it's hit a good dollar value for me.

Will kimoto gravity well solve this problem?

I think the dev said he'll implement it if necessary.
The "kimoto gravity well" is just a name Sunny King put on his averaging function. It is not an antidote - the multipoolers will still crush the coin - but what it does is it damps the difficulty adjustment so it doesn't peak quite as fast and hard, and comes back down faster and smoother once the multipool leaves. All it does it make it so the regular miners can get back on the coin faster after the multipool leaves it for dead. Which is better than nothing.

Its kinda like what's been going on with UNO. I've been mining Unobtanium steadily for weeks now. But the difficulty kinda rolls up and down like ocean waves. I just keep it mining constant, when the multipool hits it the diff jumps and my profitability goes down, but eventually they leave it comes back down and I make coins again.

Right now the multipools hit LEAF the difficulty pegs forever and nobody can mine it.

Of course, once the implement the gravity well fix, that will help the diff adjustment, but you still got the issue of them dumping. So hopefully they can keep building interest and get enough going that they can absorb the dumps and keep on trucking. I still have no idea why LEAF has interest or where its coming from.

Where can one buy VOLT? They've got a bunch of shady exchanges listed on their site but clicking through them I don't see them anywhere. They have Cryptsy listed but they aren't on cryptsy.

Keep an eye for kittehcoin guys it might be a good buy. They are talking about a relaunch target date is Feb 3rd, could be lie. They want to compete vs dogecoin. A couple of days ago kittehcoin was 40-50 satoshi, 2 days later (today) its at 60-66 satoshi.

http://kittehcoin.info/forums/gener...ittehcoin-status-update-2-revised-coin-spec!/

They are talking about the first launch there was a lack of etc. "A: The initial launch lacked branding and a development team and was sparse on info and resources. The current coins, and those being mined will not be affected. The relaunch is just to provide a better foundation for growth as well as launch some new coin features and sites."

There's a 30+ btc wall at 25 sats on LEAF, I'm on standby to drop my leaf at any time, if the sell pressure get's overpowering.

I'm getting ready to take profits before it starts reversing.

Atm it's getting eaten, which is good! :)

Definitely a whale playing with LEAF, it's quite amusing to watch. Keeps pulling sell walls and I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same person pumping up buy support now.

This could be a very long night!

It means that if the whale or somebody like me with over 50 million LEAF get twitchy we'll dump and it'll cause a chain reaction of dumping: Game over for today.

I can't advise anything right now, it's like a game of chess and nerves.

There is a guy with over 24 btc of LEAF looking to sell.

That's obvious because the 30 btc wall was reduced to 6 all at once and in the trade history there were no purchase made to represent this ammount.

When he thinks it's not rising anymore, then I would imagine it's dump time.

Wow. $10k+ in just LEAF. I don't see this wall you're talking about. I see 10 BTC at 23 Satoshi as a buy. Is that what you're talking about?

Unless you're not on Coinedup of course, but I don't see such activity in LEAF on the other site that has it that I'm aware of.

Pump is still on.

Coinmarket.io is leading the way for LEAF. That's where you want to be looking.

But it's also why I moved away from there and to coinedup.

When they dump at coinmarket, It should give me time to dump at coinedup.

Ah, I saw them. They didn't have much that was different so I didn't create an account. Are PRT and PART just different tickers for Particle?

Also, a quick eyeball on their BTC-based prices makes them seem a little higher than other sites I've seen, except for LEAF.

Think so, I always referred to particle as PRT?

They got a nice trade engine. Running smoothly and transfers to and from the exchange are as quick as instant. Barring the confirmation times.

Have we found a quicker way to trade alts yet if we are in cash? My past experience with coinbase is that its 3-4 biz days + however long it takes to transfer the btc to cryptsy
