Hi.
There's a specific country where the politics are mostly who screams the loudest and it's hard to get a proper view on things. News stations and magazines are owned by politicians. TV owned by politicians. Votes and followers are being bought and generally nobody seems honest. However, at the same time, tons of people are complaining about this and about the current political situation.
I had an idea of creating a sort fo IMDB or RottenTomatoes for politicians in that country. All public data, nothing weird.
All Politicians in one site with basic information no one could deny for each of them.
Then besides that would be a review system (imagine amazon or imdb) with the possibility of each review being upvoted. So hopefully the good ones actually get seen.
I asked on a subreddit about that country if this idea would be feasible and if they would use it. ( 1 hour later, and comments kept appearing with every refresh. post got in HOT)
50% said yes,
50% said no.
Overall there were tons of ideas that would make it better but also tons of reasons why it would not work.
Reasons it would not work:
1: reviews will be bought from all sides of the political spectrum and nothing would be trustworthy
2: even when not bought, people will have a vested interest and will not look at things objectively.
3: everyone will have shitty ratings cuz everyone is corrupt ( which is not far from the truth )
4: everyone will rate lowest for the competition and highest for the party they like.
All of these are valid. My biggest weapon against them are numbers. A HUGE chunk of the country hates all sides and wants something better. THeir reviews would hopefully be way more than any corrupt reviews left. And also, there's 1-2 things I could do to lower the amount of fake reviews that people can leave on the site.
I'm Kinda lost on what to do. Whether to pursue the idea at all and would like your opinions on this.
