I invest in stocks and trade from time to time. I understand that this is certainly not Fastlane; it's risky, we lack control, we need a pretty hefty sum of money to begin with. I'm not recommending doing what I did, just sharing. Also, I have money to "play with", I didn't increase my wealth through the stock market, I use it for quarterly dividend returns and rarely check up on any of my stocks unless they make the news.
I was looking through my stock portfolio a few weeks ago and I noticed something weird. All of my stocks are dividend household name companies that are relatively safe, long-term stocks (boring, I know). But I had in my portfolio shares of Beyond Meat, which does not pay a dividend and only recently became a public company. I would never put money in a company that doesn't give me a steady dividend, and I especially wouldn't put money in a company that just went public. That's a BIG rule of mine. This was weird.
I remember a few weeks ago me and a few friends got pretty drunk, and a friend of mine did tell me I was looking at stocks that night on my phone, so I'm thinking I bought in a lot of shares when I was drunk and then forgot about it, until recently. Again, I don't recommend this. When I noticed that I had bought in I also noticed that my alcohol-driven investment was up over 40% within a few days/weeks. So I held. Stock went up again, day over day. Anyways, I decided to sell off today all of my shares. I made a 100+% return on investment inside of a month. It might go higher but I don't care, I just feel incredibly lucky.
I blacked out the amount of money made because: a) it's irrelevant, and b) I didn't work for it; it was basically just blind luck.
Anyone else have any weird/funny stories like this?
