I have to tell you, I totally expected the disaster funds to go to crooks in significant amounts. Drug cartels, white collar fraudsters, secret side corporations owned by bankers, SBA employees, or government workers... or their nephews or whatever.
But hedge fund managers is the amusing story of the day. I think I'm going to pause my keto diet, grab some popcorn, and watch where this goes. "Small businesses" that have maybe 10 employees but make millions per employee per year in fees (which don't stop coming in when they burn through your retirement savings, btw) soaking up the "relief" dollars. That's classic! Not hair salons and restaurants and local businesses. Nope, brokerages and funds, proabably with AI assisted automatic loan submittal software, given how they leverage technology in the rest of their operations.
I feel like we'll be adding some very interesting chapters to the economics and politics books in the future. They'll echo many things we already knew from history, but be refreshingly up to date. Prime among those lessons, the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. And the outcome you thought you would get is not necessarily how it will work. And... and... well you can probably think of some other things that will come out of this.
