I adore fine literature that challenges my mind and refines my character. I came across this today and wanted to share.
The American Scholar is a complete essay giving wisdom in a noble fashion.
“This address was delivered at Cambridge in 1837, before the Harvard Chapter of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, a college fraternity composed of the first twenty-five men in each graduating class. The society has annual meetings, which have been the occasion for addresses from the most distinguished scholars and thinkers of the day.”
You can download a whole book of his essays which will include the address I’m speaking of to kindle for free by using Gutenberg.
In this address Emerson writes about what it means to be a complete man, a man of action, thinking, focus.

Emerson isn’t for the faint of heart, he writes just thirty years before the Civil War and his words are older, deeper but oh so good.
