FCC is about to repeal Net Neutrality

    HOT!
Didn't see anything posted on this, so I thought I would help spread the word. If you don't know what this means, it essentially means that your ISP could decide to charge you $10 per minute for accessing thefastlaneforum.com because reasons. Or, they could decide to blacklist it all together...

How to do a Wordpress Membership Video site right?

    WEB/DIGITAL
Um, I'm not even sure how to respond to this since I didn't even state the field for which I will be making instructional videos on. I have made and operated several wordpress-based sites in the past, so I have moderate experience in coding, web design, graphic design, etc. I am not a newbie in...

How to do a Wordpress Membership Video site right?

    WEB/DIGITAL
Hello Fastlane, been a while! As the title suggests, I'm looking to set up a relatively simple wordpress membership site where the paid content is instructional videos. Having been out of the loop a while, I've been Googling the various aspects of the project to find out what services and...

Where to learn all about investing?

    INVESTING
Recently I've become very interested in learning how to invest my money wisely, but I don't know the first thing about it. Can anyone point me to solid resources in which I can begin my investing education? If it helps, I'm mostly interested in long-term, lower risk investing, like CD's...

Out of a Funk - a Newbie's Journey In Self Publishing

    PUBLISHING
Spoken as if it were taken from my own mind. :) I believe self-confidence goes a long way in writing, and in life. One thing I would suggest is try to change your perspective on how you're measuring your success. If you're measuring it by income, then realize you can't judge your success or...

Out of a Funk - a Newbie's Journey In Self Publishing

This is why I love self-publishing. Whenever I have time, I can work toward building that income. Right now, however, I'm completely swamped with finals.

Choose a design for a book cover!

    PUBLISHING
I think 5 and 17 are the best choices with five coming out ahead slightly. If it were me, I'd definitely go with five if the book is going to be placed in romance categories. Best of luck with the launch. Be sure to let us know how it goes. Edit: Woops, that 7 was supposed to be a 17. Don't...

Romance Writers: Heat level by sub-genre?

Thanks! Been trying to get this novel started for over two weeks, but school has been gobbling up all my time. :(

Romance Writers: Heat level by sub-genre?

    PUBLISHING
Perhaps I didn't explain myself adequately. I'm not trying to figure out MY comfort level, but general genre expectations without reading hundreds of titles.

Romance Writers: Heat level by sub-genre?

    PUBLISHING
Well, that's kind of my point. Reading new adult, for example, I can find titles with no sex and titles that get fairly heavy, yet they represent the same genre and can be very similar with covers and blurbs.

Romance Writers: Heat level by sub-genre?

    PUBLISHING
Curious how any of you go about deciding how much spice to add to your novels based on the sub-genre you're writing for. Is there a way to find the sweet spot in something like Contemporary or New Adult where the heat level is spread all over the spectrum? Some novels contain little to no sexy...

Thanks for the feedback. I'll try some more adjustments with the first cover. Really trying to stay away from half naked dude on the front, though. I don't want to get lost in the sea of male torsos of NA and Contemporary romance. @Rawr I'll check that book out, thanks! @COSenior any tips for...

    Healthy energy drink alternatives?

    HOT!
Anyone know of a healthy alternative to energy drinks? This seems to be my last vice. I tend to have one in the morning, and I very much enjoy the boost it gives me. I've tried coffee, but it doesn't have the same kick.

This might be a dumb question, but are there any prizes in NaNoWriMo? I was always under the impression it was just for fun.
