How To Use Copywriting To Double Profits

    AMA
Whenever I work on my own stuff, I'm blinded. Just can't see what's really in front of me. My mind always sees what I WANT to be there. With that in mind, Maybe you can take a look at this and tell me what you think? http://ww.castleforgemedia.com/flashfire-videos/ I just put it up today...

    Three Product Ideas

    IDEA
They've got that HUGE mailing list of guys already signed up for the DSC. I imagine that launching this new biz was as simple as sending out an email with that landing page. Once the business is self sustaining, they have the option to re-market/re-brand for women. Although, I don't know if...

So, I could go look for a "good" job but....

If you focus on a career you have no idea if you'll succeed and whether you'll have money by next year. You control nothing except your performance. You can do very good, make the company you're at a lot of money, and they still have the opportunity to fire you, leaving you in the middle of...

    Progress Thread: Marketing Consulting

    MARKETING
Hey guys. I meant to update this thread, but I lost it. I didn't end up doing the video. I ended up getting a job to pay for some of the costs involved (stock footage, music, etc.) and that took me in an interesting direction. In and out of homelessness once more, living in a house of drug...

    The Internet as a universe

This is great. If you were to rank it by BANDWIDTH Netflix would cover 30% of the map.

The biological reason "stuff" can't make us happy.

    MINDSET
The reason I bought up the clothes as an example is due to a specific experience I had in college. I was sitting alone at a lunch table, wearing my Rancid band T-Shirt. I didn't know anybody yet, and at the time I wasn't as confident or outgoing as I am now. A STUNNING girl sat down with me and...

The biological reason "stuff" can't make us happy.

    MINDSET
Your main message is "It takes more than just stuff to make you happy." I agree with this. I dislike the explanation, it sounds a little too pseudoscience-y to me. I feel like that's an oversimplification of Serotonin and it's role in cognitive function. It's also an oversimplification of the...

    Understanding Passion-based Motivation

    MINDSET
Something finally clicked for me, and it's on this whole Passion vs. Motivation thing. Letting your passions motivate your business, even if your particular business isn't your passion. @MJ DeMarco wrote about it in TMF, but I never understood until I experienced it. It's a very powerful...

    video startup needs beta testers

Pretty sweet, I like the direction you're heading with this. I wanted to do something similar but if you keep on this trajectory maybe I won't have to. Great stuff. I give you particular props for the motion blur. HUGE mistake that WYSIWYG video services forget to add is the motion blur...

    video startup needs beta testers

Thx. James, give me a PM with your beta info. My business (Castleforge Media) is built around reviewing, and teaching video marketing tools and methods. I've picked up a ton of incite into how consumers/business owners/marketers approach video and would love to see what you've got. EDIT: I...

Ya Might Be a Sidewalker When...

Segmentation is a term I might have invented (I don't hear anybody else talk about it) referring to distinguishable breaks in a video. When you have a book, there are definite chapter breaks. Even this text has definite breaks and stopping points. Big long chunks of text are difficult to...

Why is it OK for you to STEAL from me?

    HOT! PEOPLE
All of this is beautiful and perfect. Gabe newell, CEO of valve has an interesting take on piracy, the biggest issue facing gaming right now. QUOTE: "We think there is a fundamental misconception about piracy," Newell said. "Piracy is almost always a service problem and not a pricing problem...

Why is it OK for you to STEAL from me?

    HOT! PEOPLE
(Now that I've had the opportunity to read the rest of the thread...) Is it ETHICAL to: Watch TV and then channel surf during the commercials? Listen to radio and then change channels during the ads? Fast forward through podcast ads? Hold superbowl parties making it impossible to view ACTUAL...

Why is it OK for you to STEAL from me?

    HOT! PEOPLE
(note: I didn't look through the whole thread) It's funny, I ENJOY ads... but I installed adblocker anyways. Why? I don't like seeing what basically equates to porn in my ads. I'm reading about the new iphone, and I don't need to be tempted with the GIFs of the chicks in bikinis dancing...

    Reasons to avoid HULU PLUS

    OFF-TOPIC
I'm writing a review of Hulu Plus for my website... and it's going to take a long time to get the TONE to come across the way I want. In the mean while, I REALLY need an outlet to rant about this horrible company. While there are SOME THINGS people get upset about... I'm pretty understanding...

Getting your first testimonials for a B2B product advice needed

    MARKETING
I always work out the kinks with 6 actual users for free. They donate their time to me to figure out the software, give me feedback on the workflow problems, etc. By the end of the process, they're hooked on the software and are happy to give up a testimonial.

That's brilliant. Maybe stall specific? As you're sitting there for the duration of their visit, looking at it, absorbing the copy. Eventually they think "why not." It makes me wonder if the crime rate for people trying to "break into" bathroom machines is higher since they're so "private." A...

    Calling All Authors and Self-Pub'rs

    PUBLISHING
I think it's a phenomenal idea. It will bring in more serious writers. I'd love to get some bestsellers giving us advice alongside our existing fastlaners. This will take off and become it's own marketable brand. Right now my main discussion with other authors is on a facebook group that Pat...

Just listened to this: http://freakonomics.com/2014/02/27/why-are-japanese-homes-disposable-a-new-freakonomics-radio-podcast-3/ Turns out that Japanese houses only last for 30 years before they're torn down. They don't take care of their houses or maintain them, because it's common knowlege...
