Student Engineer Turned Entrepreneur Turned Fastlaner

    INTRO
Fellow engineer here. Can't tell if you are being sarcastic: -If you really do think Thermo is super exciting, then HELL yeah brother. Find a job in aerospace or energy or something similar. -If you were kidding, then you need to run like hell away from your major and find something you like...

Affinity Photo is (much) better than Photoshop. No, seriously.

    SIDE HUSTLE WEB DESIGN
This is a very similar reason why I switched from some software I used to love. I design electronics, and have always used a software called Eagle. It's ugly, it's hard to use, and it's got a steep learning curve. But damnit, it gets the job done and it's the industry standard. There's a...

    Teaching Technology

I do something similar. I am an Electrical Engineer, and I teach electronics workshops related to DIY audio projects. Have you considered doing volunteer work? It's made a lot of connections for me. I teach at a couple kids' summer rock and roll camps. Kids 7-17 meet for an hour every day...

    Stock Market Trading Rotation System

    HOT! INVESTING
I hope you're able to bank that next year. We might be in for a bumpy ride. j/k I like to tease the people who are doing the "right thing". When my girlfriend opened her first account earlier this year, I told her to put it all in a mix that was heavy on index funds. It's not right for me...

    Hire people or outsource?

holy heck I'm not interested in creating an app myself... but the amount of help in this one post is staggering.

How do I get 100% happy?

    MINDSET
Don't worry, it's nothing personal. These forums get hit with spammy posters constantly. It would be impossible to screen them all and manually give them a thumbs up/down for posting links. Can you just type out the link (site DOT com SLASH whatever) or a term we can use to Google this test...

Convince me not to use WIX for Ecommerce

    MARKETING
Replying to the parent comment, I haven't read the full thread yet, but there is one MAJOR reason why I don't use Wix: They don't let you insert custom script into the headers or footers of the pages. That eliminates a lot of custom plugins (like Sumo) or javascript for GA tracking on...

Man gets to choose whether he spends eternity in heaven or hell

    MINDSET
The real question is: How can I make and sell an online course that teaches people the best tactics for 10Xing their results from 2ft spoons? Or, maybe whitelabel a 1ft spoon and sell it on Amazon.

    Thoughts On The 10X Rule

    HOT!
It's another datapoint, but not the whole picture. I think Grant Cardone is an annoying bro. Definitely fails the would-you-have-a-beer-with-him test. That said, I think everyone should read the book. It's a fast read, gives you a different person's perspective, and you might pick up a trick...

Any electrical engineers here? Vibrating motor + time control

Stop right there then! PS Yet another EE chiming in :) Any time I am designing a new product, I need some info before I can make decisions on actually spending money or time sourcing products and getting designers involved. Even though I'm doing my own design, I still assign a dollar cost to...

Have a Prototype Ready, how to Get Money to Fund it?

Hola! I do physical products too and ran into the same problem. "Design is [close to] done... now how do I do a production run without capital?!" Sounds like a blowoff, but ZCP is on the right track. Sell a handful of these suckers! If you can ship a minimum-viable version of this product...

My Friend hasn't paid Canadian Sales Taxes since 2014. Next steps?

    TAXES | REGS
Title says it all. He hasn't filed 2014-2016 (but paid 2017) He doesn't have a big business... just a one man consulting gig editing videos. Canadian Revenue Agency called him and he owes between CAD$4.5k-6k. I'm trying to help him out with advice, but I'm in the USA and have no experience...

    Is this stealng?

HEADS UP! If you are trying to make sure this post doesn't show up on the radar of your competitor, get rid of that text (or ask this question in the Insider's section where it won't be visible to search traffic) I just googled a couple sentences of that ToS text you posted it and the first...

What is the BEST "value" you ever paid for?

    NOTABLE! HOT! CHAT EXECUTION
I've seen a few people mention these already, but jumping on the bandwagon here: 1) I bought a $1100 course on working out that got me a workout program, coach support, daily lessons, and access to a community that I can ask questions in. It was SO hard to fork over the cash, but holy crap it...

    Life... and Joel Osteen.

    MINDSET
I agree with BrooklynHustle. Joel Osteen creeps me out (can't wait for his upcoming sex scandal, I bet it'll be a good one!) But there's value in remembering that you have limited time on this earth, so SHOW UP! I used to have panic attacks really bad (1x/week for 1 year, then 1x/month for 3...

I want to develop a VR video game

I'd even back up farther than that in the idea process. 1) What is your "unfair advantage" that other games don't have? 2) How can you test the game idea in the next 2 weeks without spending any money on design or development? If it were me, I'd write out an overview of the plot and some...
