The Double My Money Thread: $1k to $2k.

    EXECUTION
Hey all! This post is fairly long. Skip to the *TL;DR* if you're wanting the no-frills version! ----- I spend most of my time as a teacher-to-be. No, I'm not in school for education. No, I don't plan to go teach history to 11th graders. However, I do believe in growth and development in...

What would you do if you had 10k and no business idea yet

    HOT! IDEA
I really like this honestly. I'm sitting on $1000 right now that I could throw into something. I'm interested to see the outcome of what would happen if I dedicated every dollar of that money to the goal of doubling it!

What would you do if you had 10k and no business idea yet

    HOT! IDEA
Generally? Meditations by Marcus Aurelius and The Millionaire Fastlane by our guy MJ. In terms of business - that's not for me to decide. Are you going to learn how to program and build a tech MVP? Maybe I'd recommend a few programming books from O'reilly. Are you going to be pitching to...

What would you do if you had 10k and no business idea yet

    HOT! IDEA
Make sure I had a decent laptop (don't go crazy.) Buy two books that were going to point me in the right direction (don't go crazy.) Put $8,500 in a savings account, and get a part time job as a barista to save more money until I get an idea worth pursuing.

    Questions about Venture Capital

Hey all! I notice that I'm on this forum in waves - and every time I come back I feel like I miss you all haha. My question today pertains to venture capital. A lot of the advice and material I see on entrepreneurship today subscribes to the Barebones school of thought. These are the hungry...

What do you drink besides coffee?

    HEALTH
I'm now aware of how pointless it was for me to post this, hahaha. Feel free to #landfill if you so desire - mods!

What do you drink besides coffee?

    HEALTH
Got a giant 40oz reusable bottle in front of me right now. ;) All about getting that water in! I should've rephrased. I'm not exactly falling asleep at the wheel over here. Moreso just something to sip on that's gonna sharpen the edge a bit. Maybe Tea is the answer.

What do you drink besides coffee?

    HEALTH
I don't need the caffeine. It's just a nice bonus. I just want a healthy alternative to coffee that's not a diuretic.

What do you drink besides coffee?

    HEALTH
Hey all! I love coffee - but it's a hassle constantly getting up to go to the bathroom whenever I'm sitting down to work. What do you lot drink as you work that keeps you alert, and keeps you in one place? Cheers!

For the web programmers out there

I'm just confused on exactly what you're offering. Before we get into the technical side of things, let's do this. Let's say I'm the owner of a public water utility company. I have never heard of you or your business before, but I see in my schedule that I have a meeting with you today. Who...

For the web programmers out there

From someone who's been cannon-balling into the world of webdev recently, you're better off outsourcing this whole thing. 10 hours of what I imagine to be HTML/CSS is not going to be enough if you're looking to start a B2B web-app. - What does this mean. Are you collecting demographic data...

The Learning a New Language Thread

    HOT!
Yes and no! I'm pretty active in the online language-learning community (man that really does sound nerdy doesn't it?) and Rosetta Stone actually catches a lot of hate for being insanely overpriced. You're essentially dropping $400 on a product that gives you no real foundation for the language...

The Learning a New Language Thread

    HOT!
Look into resources like Duolingo, Babbel, LanguageTransfer, and Memrise. All of these are free if not negligibly cheap, and you can use them to get a great start on your language learning now. The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time is today.

The Learning a New Language Thread

    HOT!
Keep in mind that with Duolingo, the jury is still out on whether or not one could say that they've "learned" a language via the app. Duolingo is a phenomenal language learning tool, and makes a wonderful first step in the right direction if you're looking to learn a new language. You will...

The Learning a New Language Thread

    HOT!
Glad to see this thread is young. Let me give my input as a serial language learner. 1. As with your first business, successful song, successful book, whatever - the first one is always the hardest. Whenever you begin learning a new language, you don't simply learn Spanish. First, you often...

    HOT!
Thanks for the helpful post Andy - always insightful! Hope you're doing well. By the way, it's been a minute since we've talked! I've had some space in my calendar free up recently, so if you or anyone you know need help with AdWords you can let me know! All the best, Dillon ;)

    GOLD! MARKETING SOCIAL MEDIA
Thanks for the wonderful feedback, all! It seems like I'll keep my focus on AdWords (and keep my coding focus pointed towards Web Dev, thanks @Fox) Now, to start the next line of discussion, let's talk about split testing ads. I'm a big proponent of the idea that there should always be at...

    GOLD! MARKETING SOCIAL MEDIA
On this - I want to talk a little bit more about scripts. How much JavaScript knowledge would one need in order to build a decent script? What are the capabilities of AdWords scripts, what are they most commonly used to automate? Is there any potential for a script as a product? I.e., if I...
