    A thought on scarcity.

    MINDSET
One thing to note is that some markets have an abundance of quality. For instance, I did a horse racing painting for the 2010 Derby Festival, and now sell it to the general horse racing market. The problem is, there's countless beautiful, high quality horse racing paintings. So I would have...

    A thought on scarcity.

    MINDSET
Since learning more about business tactics, I've applied, and learned something about scarcity. I currently sell art prints (while working on a fastlane strategy) and decided to offer Limited Editions last year. The sales increase has been ok, but one thing is clear: The limitation of...

    Starting A Business Selling Online

One thing to consider is whether or not the business will be seasonal. (hint: it will be) I sell art prints, and have a 44" large format printer, and it's very seasonal. I've also worked for a great company in the t shirt business. Although my art is also home decor, it is all mainly the gift...

    Hello from Kentucky.

    INTRO
"biometrics/Next Generation Identification" These sound juicy. You may have some insider perspective. Ask yourself, is there anything people in this field are complaining or frustrated about? (Hi from Louisville)

Why Facebook is a Joke (And various social media/smartphone insanity)

    NOTABLE! HOT! MARKETING
It's been an ok feeder channel for art sales, but I have an unfair advantage. Pictures are the most popular type of post, and I sell pictures. Statistically, email subscribers are still clicking through a lot more.

Listened the other day, it's a good one!

Best Way To Stash 500k In Banks?

    HOT!
From the book: “A saved dollar is the best passive income instrument.” “The rich leverage compound interest at its crest, applied against large sums of money.” Isn't the end goal of the book to stack up a mountain of cash with a fast lane business and eventually become a net lender? Saving...

    Retail: Using others images?

No you can't use images found online. It's called copyright infringement. If you're an affiliate, ask the companies for images. Many clothing companies have a backend site you can log into for access to model shots wearing the actual products.

    Thinking differently about art

Almost done with the first design for licensing! (with 3 more at 50%) I've privately shown it to people in that market and gotten helpful feedback. Great response so far, with most asking to order. On track to knock it out this month, and start pitching in July. Been going through my notes...

Getting a new computer. maybe iMac, thoughts?

    OFF-TOPIC
I do some very cpu intensive 2d & 3d graphics (compared to average computer work) on a MacBook Pro. And heavy 2d on a Surface Pro. Given that they are little powerhouses now, I don't see why anyone would buy a desktop machine unless they need insane power (that an iMac can't muster anyway...

What do you call an entrepreneur who lives in a castle?

Actually, I do 20m/day, and it makes a huge difference. People overestimate what can be accomplished in a day, but underestimate what can be accomplished in a month if they set the pass/fail mark a little lower. It's all about the consistency.

    PUBLISHING
There may be opportunity for upsell on fiver, but an important part of freelancing is to find clients who are telling themselves this story: "I am willing to pay what it's worth for quality work because appearance is important for my project." People who choose a website based on $5 graphic...

Any recommendations for creative thinking? (books/articles)

The Seth Godin books - Purple Cow & Linchpin - good for creative thinking. But his best is The Dip. You'll quit wasting time on some things after that one, and figure out where you can crush it. Winners win big

    First step to inventing?

Step one: This. Audiobook is good, but it's a ton of info. The audiobook has no organization such as chapters, and you can't bookmark or highlight sections, which I found super useful with MFL. So I recommend the e-book or the physical book .

Bought a huge house with a 3 car garage and a pool!

    GOLD! MINDSET
Can you rent it out? I don't know jack about real estate, but renting things out is the best money tree seedling in the book. I would assume big a$$ houses aren't the typical rental property though.

You value your work relative to the top dogs on concept art forums, which is understandable because you've geared your entire portfolio towards landing a job in that industry. (Which is also why it's not a good fit for print work, which is the home decor market) Think outside of just providing...

Also, you don't have to put a course on gum road. You could start a WordPress site with the wish list plug-in to manage members. Or you could put the information into an e-book or PDF.

You're undervaluing your quality of work. The quality is not why you struggle to land a job in the concept art industry. That's a ridiculously competitive space. Millions of artists want to make art for video games and movies. Almost every single digital artist I know is going for it, so...

What's with the fiver bs? As someone with a decade's experience in art and graphic design, I assure you listing on a site that values your work at five dollars will get you nowhere. Won't even get you by. That site is for high school students at best. It's a big problem with designers. They...

Your art is good! I can tell you targeted concept art. Would be a fun job, but doesn't align with the CENTS commandments in the book. The only possible options for art (that I've thought of) are: Licensing - "renting" your art to a company that sells products with graphics, where you receive...
