    I like the approach mentioned in "NEVER SPLIT THE DIFFERENCE" by Chris Voss. He uses an approach that goes something like this.... "I'd really like to help you with......" whatever it is that they are asking for. "How am I supposed to to do that when....." explain the issue.

    If you want it to look like a painted car, why not take it to an auto body repair shop? They might be willing to paint it. If the paint needs to be durable you could consider powder coating the parts. The process can be done at home if you have an oven you don't care for.
