    Hey Everyone; A Patent Conversation

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your project! You said that you don't have the funds to patent the product, but then you go on to say that you'd like to hire employees and produce the product in a warehouse while keeping it as an unpatented trade secret. I can't imagine that the cost...

    Euro account for US business?

I'd like to open a Euro denominated account for our US business. We do a lot of business that involves sending and receiving money with Europeans. With the dollar dropping and the ridiculous exchange rates I think it makes sense to keep a chunk of money in Euros to use for these transactions...

    Diane Kennedy tax services

    TAXES | REGS
Have any of you personally used Diane Kennedy's services? We're looking for a new CPA for both our personal and business finances. I'd appreciate any comments, positive or negative, from people who have actually used her services. Feel free to PM me if you'd rather not post publicly. Thanks!

    ObamaForums.com

    MARKETPLACE
I'd put a vBulletin forum up on it and try to get some activity going now. If you can get it established now, you'll see a real upswing in traffic during campaign season leading up to the 2012 elections. The trick is keeping at least some activity going on the forum and getting it ranked well...

    Great Q&A session with a self-made restaurant/bar owner

This guy worked his way up from being a dishwasher to owning multiple restaurants and bars. It's a great story and he has some really interesting answers and insights. I Own a Chain of Restaurants and Bars - I Started Out 10 Years Ago Washing Dishes - AMA : IAmA

    Where The Wild Things Are

    OFF-TOPIC
I loved this book as a kid, and my 3 year old and I both love it now. We were both really excited when we saw the previews for the movie. Since then several of my friends have seen it and said that it's pretty dark and sad, and that they wished they hadn't taken their young kids to see it...

Tear my idea a new one: Twist on Coin-Laundry

    IDEA
I second the idea of a full-service laundry, especially if you're near an air force base. When I was in college there was a full-service laundry that my friends and I all loved. They charged by the load, with extra per item to iron it and hang it up (for dress clothes). The business seemed to...

    cafepress.com

I've used them. They work pretty much exactly as advertised. They're great for trying out an idea. If it doesn't work, you're not stuck with a bunch of inventory you can't move. If it does, you can always start ordering in bulk from a cheaper printer and fulfilling orders on your own.

Anyone teach at the College level?

    OFF-TOPIC
I've taught adjunct college classes off and on over the last several years and really enjoyed it. I started when I was around 24, so I can relate to how you felt when getting started. The hardest part for me was the "non-traditional" students. Some of these people were my parents' age and had...

    The New Bubble ... Internet?

In my opinion, the best strategy right now is to build sites, grow their traffic levels as much as possible, and hold them until the ad rates go back up. Since this type of business is usually valued at a multiple of annual profit, when the rates go up the value of the site will jump...

    The New Bubble ... Internet?

Note: I'm in the content website publishing business. My comments below apply to content sites and don't necessarily apply to other areas such as e-commerce, affiliate marketing, etc. In my main niche alone I've seen 1000's of new sites opening up in the last year, a good portion of which...

    What does it feel like?

    EXECUTION HOT!
The really big, exciting celebration for me was when my business was making enough to allow me to quit my day job. This was well before I was anywhere near 1 million in net worth, but it meant that I was free to set my own schedule and pursue my own goals. I still celebrate my "independence...

The "Safest" Place For Your "Assets"

    HOT!
To me, "safe" means as little chance as possible of losing principal, and makes at least enough interest to keep up with inflation. A "safe" place to stash your money isn't necessarily a good investment that will yield a good return. What I like to do is keep a certain (ever increasing)...

    IDEA
The sad truth is that there are people out there who will sue you for any reason they can think of. Believe me, I can tell you some crazy stories! A big step in starting any business is consulting with an attorney before getting started and covering your butt as best you can. It's a...

    Worst Situation Ever

    OFF-TOPIC
I've got to give your boss/friend props for coming to you and telling you what happened. In my opinion that was the right thing to do and took a lot of guts. It doesn't in any way make up for what he did or mean that you should forgive him, but I hope you recognize that he at least did one...
