Most of the resources I've mentioned here are really, really good for people that want to write themselves, and less for outsourcing, but I'm sure you could find value in some of the stuff I've posted for that as well. I think it's extremely valuable to write even if you are outsourcing...

8 nerds launch a $12M card game biz

I'll definitely check out the podcast. Great for driving to and from work. I know that my current game (the kids one) would not really be a Fastlane type of business. It's really just because I played it for years with my son and we had a lot of fun, so thought I'd test it out on The Game...

8 nerds launch a $12M card game biz

@DennisDuty thanks for the BGG tip! That game concept is pretty solid, and I would just have to create the cards and rules and see what happens. It probably wouldn't catch on right away since it's geared for a younger audience and so I'm not sure how that would test at BGG. I do have one...

8 nerds launch a $12M card game biz

Check out https://www.thegamecrafter.com/. You can design your own game, upload the graphics, etc. and make it print on demand. Kinda like Kindle for card games. I am working on doing this for a card game I created years ago to play with my son. I already have the rules created and had the...

8 nerds launch a $12M card game biz

This game is hilarious and fun. I've actually had a few ideas for card games, and I think it's worth exploring as an option.

My Plan After reading GiroudJD's thread, I think that I'll do a mix of writing and outsourcing now. Like I've mentioned, most everything that I've put out now has been outsourced. I had just over four figures income for a while, but now I'm down significantly, and it's all due to me not...

    My Take on Self-Publishing

    PUBLISHING
Giroud, first of all thanks for a great thread! I've got close to 20 books out there now, one non-fiction that I wrote and the others all fiction that were outsourced. When they were first published, it started out slowly for sales, but then picked up pretty good. My best months were...

17 year olds goal of reaching $20,000 per month self publishing

Keep it up! My first book ever on Kindle was 100% written by me and it is non-fiction. The next 18 were all outsourced, but they are fiction. My current business plan has a mix of both, but for the most part I'll be writing all of them myself. Good luck, and keep it up. I'll be keeping an...

My (Continuing) Journey Towards Becoming a Full-Time Author

My Process I've found that outlining my story ahead of time has made a huge difference in what I can accomplish. That being said, there are many ways to outline a story and a lot of it depends on the type of story you're writing. Of course non-fiction and fiction are treated differently, and...

My Tools I think the right tools make ALL the difference. For a long time, actually most of my current books, I've just used Word. For what I did - short stories - it was OK, but not the best. Once you get into longer books (even as short as novellas, and certainly anything longer) it...

    I've Read The Millionaire Fastlane!

    GOLD! HOT!
Hey MJ! Got the book a few months ago and something sidetracked me. So I started it about 3 days ago and just finished it last night! That's speed reading for me. I'm now recommending to friends and others that I feel will benefit. This book is truly amazing. Especially when reality kicks...

I've found this to be true for me. I had too many "goals" or "projects" going on that writing/publishing either was taking WAY too long or just didn't happen at all. Most recently, I decided to unsubscribe from all the b.s. mailing lists I'm on (IM-related), forget about other ways of how to...

    [PROGRESS THREAD]: Six-figure Fiction

    PUBLISHING
Just finished going through all of the pages in this thread, and I've found it to be very inspiring. I was thinking of going the novella route, but my genre may not support that. Thanks (a LOT) for the genre list and what the readers expect, which helps me decide. I do write horror, so maybe...

Hello from Denver - self publishing success

    GOLD!
I started with D2D a couple months ago myself and I've been happy with that platform because it's all-in-one and makes it easier to track everything. I think I might have had a SW account, but whatever I had on there made me ZERO, and now I'm getting sales on D2D, so I'm sticking with it.
