    Any land lords on here?

Where are you located? That seems really high for a mobile that old. I guess they may go for that in areas with higher home prices but I would think 40k would be close to getting a new single wide. Anyway, there are a few negatives on mobiles: 1. They suck to work on. They use trailer...

What makes this ad good (or bad)?

    MARKETING
I definitely don't love the logo, I was just using it to show the name. This is a half page ad in a small phone book, so the ad will be roughly 5"x4". I'm afraid the logo on my sleeve will just look like a green blob.

I should have mentioned that quite a few customers do look for me by name. Should I ditch the logo completely and have my name in text?

Ok, my wife is a bit attached to the logo. So here it is with a few of the suggestions:

What makes this ad good (or bad)?

I'll go through these and let you know why I have them. Not being defensive and I'm not attached to anything, just giving a reason. The license part is required by the state. There are a lot of new plumbers around here and very few that have been around as long as my company. Since it's a...

Yes, ad will be in full color in the phone book. I agree on the Green being hard to read. Yes, that is me in the photo and I am the one that shows up (for now at least). Thanks

What makes this ad good (or bad)?

    MARKETING
Here's one I was working on before I saw the replies. I was hoping the blank space would make me stand out. Maybe give the eyes a place to rest. There is a lot of good information there, that I will use, but it seems like a lot to have in a small YP ad. I will definitely use that on my...

This may throw some of you for a loop since it's for my slowlane business and will actually be printed in a phone book :nailbiting:, but I would appreciate some feedback. I'm trying to get away from a huge list of services offered since that's what most companies do, but I did list a few of...

First Fastlane Venture: Service based startup

    EXECUTION
One of the best things I've done, probably THE best, is to get away from charging an hourly rate. I now charge by the job. When I was hourly people couldn't get past the fact that I charge 5-10x what they make per hour and they will never understand that what I charge is not what I personally...

First Fastlane Venture: Service based startup

    EXECUTION
Service businesses can do very well, but maybe not as well as many think. I don't want to discourage you, I just want to make sure you know what you're getting into. I own a service business and what the business brings in and what you make are two very different numbers. It costs a lot to be...

To Put Prices on a Website or Not - Service Business

    MARKETING
I can see the argument both ways, but I lean towards not listing prices. If prices are listed people will focus on that. Talk to them and get their focus on what they can be so they see the value and not just the cost. Either way get away from an hourly rate. Sell results. Does anyone ever buy...

Why I'm BLEEDING money (and what I could have done to prevent it)

    HOT!
I'm hearing lots of excuses which seems unusual for you. If you can consistently make that kind of money your next post should be about how you had a major brain fart and focused on obstacles but then came to your senses and figured out a way to get it done. If you spend a lot of time...

Is there any demand for a deep voice with a slight hick accent?

The next internet revolution - money for the masses

Do all the people you talked to that don't have credit cards also not have a bank account? I figure it would be hard to find a bank that didn't have a debit card with every checking account. My point is you don't have to have a credit card for online purchases.

    Repairs before closing?

    REAL ESTATE
Maybe. More likely it just clouds the issue. The land value will likely go up. The value of the mobile WILL go down. The net effect is hard to predict. In 15 years the house itself will be worth much less than it is now.

    Repairs before closing?

They can be a cheap alternative, but keep in mind they go down in value and are generally a bad investment.

SLOW DOWN! You are letting emotions dictate your actions. The next few comments can easily be taken as me being a jerk. I'm not. Read these as a concerned friend. I understand your kids are excited but if you let them make financial decisions (especially as important as this) you'll end...

    Repairs before closing?

    REAL ESTATE
I'm confused as to what the problems are. It has skirting and a foundation? Can you post a pic of it (or one like it)? "Skirting" and "manufactured" make me think of a mobile. Is it? If it does have foundation problems being only 6 years old I would want to know exactly why. If someone...
