    Suing my former employer....

This was the most worthwhile reply I could ask for. Thanks Jill! I appreciate the inside info. To everybody else who replied with the standard, "That's not fastlane dude...." blah responses, I appreciate the encouragement -- but this thread was really about finding out if anybody had done...

    Suing my former employer....

Am definitely considering starting a competing company and taking away business from them, but that's a seperate issue. In the meantime if we're talking about several million dollars (And attorneys taking 1/3rd for the case) -- Why not invest the time and let the ambulance chasers do the heavy...

    Suing my former employer....

[Apologies in advance for the long post... I've been through hell the past 3 weeks, and have condensed the story down as much as possible...] I have to make an important decision soon regarding whether or not I'm going to sue my former employer. I need some advice from those who know about...

In the span of 96 hours, my world turned literally upside down.

    HOT!
This is really a case of "know your rights"... So you don't have to be a victim... Example: In your state you are probably qualified to be common law married. If you were sharing money, living together, and basically functioning as a married couple. You have a right to 1/2 of everything...

In the span of 96 hours, my world turned literally upside down.

    HOT!
I feel like we didn't get the whole story here. Any woman that will pull a dissapearing act like that sounds like she is deeply afraid of you, or afraid to confront you. Also the fact that you let her drop you off at the bar while she went to look for the parking spot indicates to me a...

    Who here has been AUDITED?

Do Auditers get bonuses based on how much they bring in? I understand their might be a lot of pressure for them to bring in more dollars to pay their own salaries so they aren't looked at like another drain on the Federal budget?

    States With No Income Tax!

    TAXES | REGS
Yeh makes no sense why my company has built huge datacenters in Houston in the past couple of years. You want to go to one of the hottest places in the country with the highest electricity prices and property taxes so you can fill a building with things that CREATE HEAT, which will need to be...

    Who here has been AUDITED?

This topic came up in another thread, so I decided to start this one: So - who here has gone through a dreaded IRS Audit? What would you do differently to make this easier, if you had known it was coming? What level of documentation did the IRS ask you to produce to prove your...

    Making your housekeeper tax deductable?

    TAXES | REGS
I fear audits for the pain in the a$$ more than anything. It seems like nobody you talk to really can tell you what to expect. Maybe we should start a seperate thread on this so we can get an idea of what they are like. *light bulb* -- I'll do that now. - Hakrjak

    Fallout: When States go bankrupt...

I see this happening also. Governments will begin outsourcing to companies like Manpower, Volt, Spherion, etc -- just like the big corporations started to do a decade ago to avoid having to pay their long time employees more money, and better benefits. They need to get people off of these...

    Fantasy Football Year 3

    OFF-TOPIC
What a crazy year. I can't believe I went 5-0 to start the season, and then struggling for a couple of wins the rest of the year! Wow, thank you Jahvid Best!!! ROFL... Better luck next year everybody.... BTW -- I don't know who that Longhorn guy is, but he plays like some kind of...

$1,300? Some say gold may hit $2,300!

    INVESTING
Saw Warren Buffet on TV a couple months ago and he was saying something about why he wouldn't invest in Gold. He basically said, "You want to invest your money in something that if you gathered all of it up in the world could fit into a cube 65 feet by 65 feet? And you can't really do anything...

    States With No Income Tax!

    TAXES | REGS
Got interrupted before I could continue this thought --- I've heard from some of my buddies in Houston with 3000 sq ft houses, for example -- that their AC Electricity bill in the summer time can be $600/month -- and they have a long summer! You combine this with their super high property...

$1,300? Some say gold may hit $2,300!

    INVESTING
Gold might drift a little higher in the near term, but it's headed back to $350 an ounce in our lifetime. Figure out when and you can get out of the way. I'm guessing it will be there within the next 5 years again.

    States With No Income Tax!

    TAXES | REGS
State income tax isn't the only thing to consider along with property taxes (Which can be obscene in some no tax states). Also consider energy costs!

    Making your housekeeper tax deductable?

    TAXES | REGS
I'm trying to figure out a way to structure this. Our financial situation improved, and thank god we can hire back the servants in 2011!! (haha)... My situation: I work from home 100%, as my day job requires it. I also run my 2 corporations out of my home. I have 2 home offices here (One...
