    If your market is US then you should go for US trademark. Its below $300 per tm class but since your non-US based you have to go through US attorney (Trademark basics).     I don't know who that trademark expert is, but maybe find a second one to verify. Or try to file it directly. ( It seems you're from AU so www.ipaustralia.gov.au/ ) I'm not saying that you can get the trademark. I'm saying that not all lawyers and "experts" are worth the trust.

    Before you get into something that's 99% worthless consider this. GPT-3 was asked to answer "how much is two plus two" It answered for example "That's problem that many people have" and "Smartphone app that solves that problem".

    What do you use for market research?

    I use revenue of companies in that market. There was owler.com that offered that for free but they are closed now or they want subscription. Also statista.com has some data on market worth in their free reports. As for advise - revenue is all you need to know.
