Hustling! My progress as a freelancing web designer

    SIDE HUSTLE WEB DESIGN
I answered some of my own questions! It is OK to pay for a regular license: Licenses | ThemeForest It states: Note to freelancers and creative agencies: You may charge your client for your services to create an end product, even under the Regular License. But you can’t use one of our Standard...

Just finished reading The $1,000,000 Web Designer Guide

    SIDE HUSTLE WEB DESIGN
Thanks for your response, that is very helpful! I'm getting a copy of that copywriting book you mentioned. I also read that Seth Godin's books are really good for learning marketing. If you've read his books, is This is Marketing the best place to start? (This Is Marketing: You Can't Be Seen...

Just finished reading The $1,000,000 Web Designer Guide

    SIDE HUSTLE WEB DESIGN
Hey, I just finished reading a paperback copy of Fox's The $1,000,000 Web Designer Guide. It was an awesome book, and I learned a lot. It totally changed my mindset. I have at least 1 person that trusts me. They have a website, but I'm going to contact them to see any troubles their business...

    Feeling stuck

    MINDSET RANT
You are absolutely right. it's almost like binary thinking. Either everything goes perfectly, or it's a total failure. For some reason, I imagined employers to be strict, or even brutal. But the thought that I could talk to them about my progress and keep learning is extremely helpful. Thanks...

    Feeling stuck

    MINDSET RANT
There are a few places in my town that would hire a web developer. The thing is, how do I know I'm ready for a job? I don't want to be underprepared and then blow my chances with all the companies I apply to. Although, I have heard opinions that most of the knowledge needed is learned on the...

    Feeling stuck

    MINDSET RANT
I am 30 years old now. About 12 years ago I was diagnosed with schizophrenia. It sort of built up during high school, and hit its peak when I started college. I ended up dropping out of college because I was mentally breaking down. I was a high achiever before the illness, so this is very...

    Providing value with web development

    SIDE HUSTLE WEB DESIGN
So what are my next steps? I'm very unfamiliar with freelancing. I ordered Fox's book "$1,000,000 Web Designer Guide: A Practical Guide for Wealth and Freedom as an Online Freelancer". Are there other books you would recommend to gain some knowledge in this subject? I also got Cashvertising, to...

    Providing value with web development

    SIDE HUSTLE WEB DESIGN
So, I'm at a stage where I'm well-versed at front-end web development. I know HTML, CSS, JavaScript, as well as JQuery and Bootstrap. While I don't know everything, I know I can Google and figure out whatever problem I'm stuck on. I've also been developing pretty decent sites with my own...

Potential first client -- need some advice!

    SIDE HUSTLE WEB DESIGN
First off, it's been awhile since I've posted on here, but I've been working hard. I've been teaching myself front-end web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript). Now, there is a local security company that is looking for a new website. I contacted them, asking what exactly they would like, and...

No problem! I found this code camp too: https://www.freecodecamp.org/learn/ I haven't used the camp yet. I know a lot of the material already, but it'll be good to reinforce it. Once you feel like putting your knowledge into action, I've been using this site for practice and building a...

How I got hired as a software engineer without a college degree

    GOLD! MINDSET
Hey, I'm in the same situation. Well, I don't flip burgers, but I make around the same pay. I initially wanted to start my own thing, but I don't really have any good skills that would add value. I think getting a web development job would really help me out. First of all, I'd finally make more...

    EXECUTION
I do want to get good at coding, it's a skill I'd like to have. What are some projects I could do for people? I've done courses in HTML, CSS, and some JavaScript. I'd like to actually do something with this knowledge. I could help people out and gain more experience. Then when I get more ideas...

Here's an interesting Reddit I discovered. View: https://www.reddit.com/r/depression/comments/47573x/id_rather_die_than_work/ I was contemplating showing the topic creator MJ DeMarco's books. But, the Reddit topic is pretty old. That, and I'm pretty sure they've given up on life anyway...

How do I go about doing this? What are my next steps? What do I need to learn? I've been following @Fox's strategy, but that's mostly creating sites directed at sales (using copywriting, call-to-actions) etc.

Thank god. I was reading this quote: "An Extended License" is required if the end user must pay to use the end product. Besides using a template for multiple jobs, why would you need the extended license? The quote above seems to contradict things.

Big problem, guys. For those who use paid templates, especially from Themeforest, here are the licenses: https://themeforest.net/licenses/standard A regular license is $19 but an extended license is $700. Holy crap! Do I need the extended license to use a theme with a client?
