    The Revolutionary Road

Haha yes, that part is awesome. I forgot about that one. He's like "wow, so this is what I looked like and what I've become. Sickening." *I just wish he had the balls to deny the promotion.:fryingpan:

    Meatball Sundae by Seth Godin

Hello Fastlane! My newest book I'm reading now is Meatball Sundae by Seth Godin. The basic premise is that the meatball are average products, whereas, the sundae is the new marketing (web 2.0... youtube, viral, etc). He argues that you cannot take the old products, services, and ways of...

    The Revolutionary Road

I watched this movie two nights ago after finding this thread. It is definitely a depressing movie, mainly about the relationship between the two main characters. However, I too, watched it from the lense of fastlane/slowlane. I enjoyed the part of the movie where they decided to "go for it,"...

    Tribes, Leadership, Charisma

I've thought about reading this book. Thanks for the summary of the main message from this book. I agree with you about Seth; incredibly smart man and marketer. I'm going to start a new thread in the book section because I am just starting to read another one he's written. Have you read...

    Advice for those graduating now.

^^^^^^^ Nice Picture Halli !! As a recent grad, I agree with MJ. Lower the expectations, but NOT your goals. Very wise words in my opinion. Stay focused and don't get discouraged is my advice. Never give up, even though things look bleak. Short term means it will eventually change, so be ready...

    College : Just Hype?

For the most part, these people live in the rat race :/ We are talking two different types of people here. - Those who aspire to drive in the fastlane. - Those who know of nothing else besides living in the rat race. Whether we go to college or not has no bearing on where we will end...

    College : Just Hype?

I'm 23, and graduated last December with a degree in History. For me, college was a blast because I met so many great people, had great experiences, learned how to learn (sounds funny I know). Everything I took away from college has shaped me to who I am today. Just two weeks ago I went to an...

    My Introduction

What an awesome story. Props for doing it all at your age. Very inspiring, and.... speed++! Question: What were the start-up costs (ballpark) of your Cricket venture and how did you fulfill them? Great to have you around this place.

Is everyone on here in college or high school?

    OFF-TOPIC
Salinger, Am I supposed to "dream" of working my current 9-5 and driving my '86 volvo wagon for the next 10 years?? One of the 1st steps to being successful is believing.. knowing that its possible. Sounds like you are criticizing people for taking that step. Most people here are aware of the...

    Slowlane Gravity ...

    MINDSET SLOWLANE
Laziness. It is simply too easy to go through the motions of work, come home, sit on the couch and watch tv. Then you get up, go through your normal routine again and again. It takes a lot of energy and conviction to break out of that path once you are in it.

    Remarkable enough?

    WEB/DIGITAL
Great points JScott. It is true that none of the companies you mentioned have remarkable logos. With regards to Purple Cow, Godin refers more to the business itself being remarkable. Rather than trying to create remarkable marketing, create a remarkable product, feature, or business, and the...

    How To get Rich

    HOT!
I am currently reading this book right now. I just finished the chapter of harnessing the fear of failure. I must say, this book is AWESOME. As fanocks mentioned, he is down to earth and honest. His advice seems to be spot on, in my opinion. I highly recommend this book... read it!
