After this post I'll be more business focussed. But to wrap up the health side, after the heart attack, I had a stroke. How, given the blood thinners I'm on, I don't know (but it's interesting that both my brother, who died at 53 from a alcohol-related heart attack, and me were c*vid vaxed)...

Yes, a Chilisleep (now called sleepme). It is a game changer. A few things to be aware of: it'll make the room warmer, as the heat has to go somewhere, so make sure you've got good air circulation to get rid of it. Also while quite quiet, it might still take some time to get used to the noise.

True. Until last year I worked in Melb in education. Upper management was so woke they were living in an alternate reality. I decided I couldn't morally continue in that field if they expected me to pump that into young adults.

Home sweet home. Initial health action: Got a blood pressure monitor with ECG checker - will check each morning & evening. I want to know what's going on under the hood. Ordered a smart watch with heart rate & blood pressure sensor. Thinking about getting one of those ring things too, perhaps...

Thanks MJ. Agree totally: health is the foundation of everything. I thought I was healthy (6 ft, 177 lbs, careful with my diet, hadn't drunk for ~2 years, non-smoker). I found out my mother's side (which I haven't had much contact with) has many cases of fatal heart attacks in their early 60's...

Thanks so much, folks. Good suggestion. My job can be stressful so I'm moving away from that, but some parts of the skillset might be applicable to something else. On the other hand, I kinda like the idea of learning something really new as I'd stopped growing in my job a while ago. I'll keep...

Hi. Here's my progress thread. I had a heart attack two days ago so I'm writing this from hospital. It's kind of focussed my mind on what I want from life. My background: 58, yeah I'm no spring chicken but better late than never. Married. Kids (girl 11, lad 14). Modest slowlane success (career...

What was MJ DeMarco's Relationship Rule?

    NOTABLE! HEALTH QUESTION
Are you going to be static and never change once you are 'there'? Is there actually an end point? What if you chose someone who could grow with you? What I mean is marriage, to me, is a process not an event. The couple a few years in are not the same people as they were at the alter anyway...

How you WIPE your WINDSHIELD? #rant

    MINDSET
Yep, similar story here. Now married with two children. Very proud I've been able to give the kids a stable, loving and supportive home even though i had no experience of that - the crap I went through has stopped with me and not infected them. OP, you can't help those who wont help themselves...

Nice. I've got a chillisleep and it's made a huge improvement to the quality of my sleep in summer.

    Your Biggest Lesson from 2023...?

    HOT! MINDSET
My lesson from this year is: everything is my fault. _Everything_. Some things were directly my fault. Other things were initially caused by something outside of my control, but I: failed to correctly identify the problem, and/or failed to respond appropriately It's. all. my. fault. And...

    Starting food product business

    EXECUTION
I've been quiet on this thread the last few weeks. I'd made a rough road-map of steps I'd need to take to bring this idea to fruition. After seeing it laid out like that, I realised there's some low-hanging fruit I can go for that will bring in a bit of money, at the cost of not being as CENTS...

    Essential lessons for young children...

    HOT! IDEA
Please do. Last year I read TMF to my then 11 year old son (editing it to a PG rating). The emphasis on having an internal locus of control made a huge impression on him; I'd say that was his most important takeaway. Understanding the power of fastlane and generally having a growth mindset was...

    Starting food product business

    EXECUTION
Last week goals: Keep working on the prototype to work around the current aftertaste. Done Order a small distillation kit as I suspect I'll need some distilled extracts in future (since it takes a while to get things delivered here, to keep moving forward I have to order in advance) Done...

I have the resources, should I go through on this?

    IDEA
Interesting idea. Can other value skews be added? e.g. make the sauce into a 'functional food' that enhances blah blah. Even if it is as simple as hiding extra daily serves of vegetables in it (parents would probably buy that one for their kids)

    Starting food product business

    EXECUTION
Last week goals: Check whether it's possible to reduce the amount of the problem substances in certain food ingredients. DONE Do a survey of what diet compliant products are available and what value skews might be possible on them. DONE I've also thought of a possible food. Australia is...

^^This. My slowlane workplace is heavily unionised. I made myself unpopular last week by refusing to go on strike (whatever). There are many employers in this particular field, and they are competing for our particular skillset. I negotiated great conditions and salary for the role. My...
