@Skins - I have some niche content but it's not suitable to be used as a portfolio due to the subject matter. I wouldn't mind making something that I could fund with Amazon affiliate or something and also advertise writing services on. Do you do any keyword research to identify a niche, and...

A Hustler's Guide To Buying And Selling Anything (Part 1)

    GOLD! SIDE HUSTLE
I'm in glasgow. I was flipping phones before, but got into bother when one of them got locked after I sold it on Amazon. I might try it again, and just sell locally or on ebay with a disclaimer.

A Hustler's Guide To Buying And Selling Anything (Part 1)

    GOLD! SIDE HUSTLE
Nobody uses CL in the UK, but gumtree is popular. I sat and made 30 offers today but made no deals. For the first 20 I offered about half of the ebay selling price, then started offering more like 60% - 70% of ebay selling prices. Still nothing :( I picked up £10 worth of video games at a...

Have Any Of You Fastlaners Taught English In China?

Sounds awesome. This is 100% happening for January/February. The only thing I can't decide is whether to get qualified or not. The CELTA would cost me around £1800 (which I don't really have), or maybe I could just do a weekend course for £200 and see how that goes.

Thanks Diego, keep pushing forward! Is there a market for copy in your native language? Maybe you could team up with a native English speaking editor.

Thank you for the kind words liquidglass! Progress Report - I landed a few cheap content writing gigs on oDesk at $2 or $3 per article. Some clients seem to be better to work with than others… - Got my first paying customer for sales copy at $20 for 750 words. :) Looks like I will get...

Do/Did You Surround Yourself With Action Takers?

    HOT! PEOPLE
"You have to cut loose to get rich. There isn't any other way. Cut loose from parents and family, obviously. Loose from working for others, except as a short-term reconnaissance expedition in order to raise a fraction of the capital you will eventually require. And loose from negative...

I told the guy I needed some time off writing for a few days as I have other projects and am in the process of moving abroad. He responds with, "How many days do you need off?" I'm done with this guy.

Have Any Of You Fastlaners Taught English In China?

@nzerinto - That's nuts! If I were to graduate from my current degree (which I'm not planning on btw), my entry pay would be about half what you were making per hour. And that is with 4 years of intense study and training :| @sle3pyguii - I like the idea of having everything taken care of for...

I'm in a bad situation right now with pretty much no disposable cash. I could scrape together say $100 to give it a shot, but I don't have consistent disposable income. I am moving abroad early next year for work though, at which point I should have a few hundred to play with each month. The...

I wasn't expecting to gain any transferable skill really, I just wanted the positive feedback. Budget for the odesk job is $200. $2 an article and I've done 7 or 8.

I might be better just marketing my own freelance writing website and take payments upfront. Then see if I can outsource jobs.

That could be what's happening, who knows. My plan was to take any writing job I could get on oDesk to build up positive feedback, and go on to write sales copy for better money. Then use the cash to fund affiliate marketing experiments, and eventually switch over to my own products for...

Thanks for all the responses. South Korea looks more attractive than China based on what people are saying about pay and expenses. I definitely want to get the CELTA qualification before I go though. Will try and book that for December, then jet off sometime in January or February.

@livingBJJ - Have you taken any TEFL courses? I've heard that doing CELTA can help you get jobs at better schools. I would certainly feel more confident that way.
