    Jumping on the bandwagon

    PUBLISHING
I can relate to that wall-hitting thing. I'm sooooo close to hitting publish on my latest project, but after I do, I swear, I'm taking a few days off. I still need to wrap the family's Christmas presents. At this rate, I'll be doing it Christmas morning. Sheesh! One thing that will be...

[PROGRESS THREAD] ChickenHawk's Self-Published Fiction EBooks

    GOLD!
Aaaaaand, I just finished the first draft of my first full-length novel under my new pen name! Whoohoooo!!!! The final word-count was approximately 79K, most of it written in the last two months. I still need to give it an edit, design the cover, write the description, and figure out how to...

I Will Reach $10,000 USD monthly in Self-Publishing.

Personally, I love the Insiders section, and would definitely recommend it if you're interested. There's some great stuff there, but much of the best stuff is unrelated to your personal fastlane path (writing/authorship/fiction). On your current path, this progress thread is probably in the...

Turning fiction into a business opportunity

    PUBLISHING
It sounds like your sis writes in a different genre? I wonder if some genres are hot at different times of the year, or based on the competition at any given time. It will be interesting to see if any long-term trends develop, such as your genre is hotter during one season, while your sis's...

[PROGRESS THREAD] ChickenHawk's Self-Published Fiction EBooks

    GOLD!
Thanks for your input and encouragement. You make an excellent point about multitasking. In a funny way, I didn't plan to multitask. But what happened was that books 1 and 2 started out as a single book, which I decided to divide up into two separate novels. Similarly, books 3 and 4 will consist...

[PROGRESS THREAD] ChickenHawk's Self-Published Fiction EBooks

    GOLD!
Loved the cartoon! And uh, of course, that's not me. Um, nope. Except on weekdays and weekends, of course. As an update, I'm literally writing the last chapter of my novel, which currently stands at 77K words. When finished, it will probably clock in at just under 80K. Tying it to a previously...

A letter to MJ, my friends, fans and family... and my enemies...

    HOT!
I find it interesting that a man who actively blames racism for his life's challenges has posted some of the most sexist claptrap I've seen here in some time. If I were being kind, I'd attribute it to a lack of maturity.

    The [Unethical] Method to Publishing...

    PUBLISHING
I don't recall him saying he'd create his own version. I recall him saying he'd "rewrite" the work of other authors. Scenario 1: "Millionaire Fastlane is a great seller. Books about building wealth seem to do really well. I'm going to create my own version of a wealth-building book." Scenario...

    The [Unethical] Method to Publishing...

    PUBLISHING
I guess this just strikes me as a variation of writing "the Billionaire Fastlane." https://www.thefastlaneforum.com/community/threads/houston-we-have-a-problem.45531/ I may have misunderstood, but to me, it does NOT sound like you're saying, "Hey I notice that books about wealth-building are...

    The [Unethical] Method to Publishing...

    PUBLISHING
Basically, your plan is to "rewrite" and sell other people's work? Seriously? Call me a stickler, but this doesn't seem terribly ethical or fastlane to me. If I understand correctly, you're not planning to see what's selling and then create your OWN version/slant/take on it, but rather you're...

Parents deciding my fate, need to get out

    HOT! MINDSET
Sometimes, it's easy to look at things as black and white, when there might be a middle ground. Obviously, your parents care about you. And yet, it's completely understandable that you don't want your path mapped out by someone else, especially when it's a path you don't want. If you go to...

    Hello and introduction from Poland!

That's some great insight from someone with firsthand knowledge. (The European Union has proven to be an interesting animal, hasn't it?) It's true that here in the USA, a good many people are living the good life, but for too many of them, it's all on credit. This tends to mask people's real...

    Hello and introduction from Poland!

Welcome to the forum, Bartek! From everything I've read, the current biz climate in Poland is pretty darn favorable, perhaps even moreso in some ways than in the USA right now. But having no experience with your current environment or situation, of course, this is just hearsay. Still, I'd...

[PROGRESS THREAD] ChickenHawk's Self-Published Fiction EBooks

    GOLD!
Quick Update: I'm still writing like crazy on my current project/pen name. Right now, this book is shaping up to be about 70,000 words. Of this, I have about 55,000 written. I'm also playing with that aforementioned previous novel, and ended up with an exciting brainstorm of tying these projects...

How Many Books Will You Publish in 2014?

    PUBLISHING
Very interesting insight on novels versus novellas. My current project started out as a novella, but has quickly grown into what will encompass at least two novels. At first, I was frustrated by this, because I wanted so badly to hit the publish button sooner. But it does seem that longer...

Oh man, that article was pretty darn funny! I am, however, greatly disappointed to learn that great erotic fiction doesn't always involve a pizza delivery guy.

On the Kindle Boards, one author said you haven't really lived until someone's returned one of your FREE books. Somehow, that made me feel better about the couple returns I had, because this made no sense whatsoever.
