    Introduction

    INTRO
Hey Mo! Welcome! Regardless of what other people are making, six figures is nothing to sneeze at. When I first started copywriting a few years ago, I was on that trajectory though I stumbled a bit and after a few years reassessing, rebuilding, and figuring myself out, I'm back on that grind...

    I can't focus on anything

    MINDSET
Analysis paralysis had been my bane starting out and I'm happy to report that now, years later, it's mostly under control. As far as dealing with this beast goes, it's better to just do something rather than think about doing something. For instance, if you're interested in freelance web design...

    My First Foray Into Ecommerce

    EXECUTION
I don't factor my living expenses into the revenue vs. expenses equation of the store (that's just revenue - (material costs + shipping + transaction fees + taxes) and then any other things like marketing, site fees, etc.). So because I like being able to pay rent and utilities, that's why I...

    My First Foray Into Ecommerce

    EXECUTION
A very minor update but I wanted to mark the occasion: I had my first sale from a complete stranger. So far, all of my business has been people who know me (whether they bought from me on their own or a mutual friend helped convince them to buy one of my shirts) and I know them but when I woke...

Learning How to Get Out of My Own Way: Growth, Stagnation, and Rebuilding Momentum

    EXECUTION RANT
I've already talked about my background at length in other posts so I'll spare y'all of the redundancy. To sum up though, I started dabbling in freelancing when I was 20, became fully self-employed around 22-23, had a hell of a shitty year in 2018 when I was 26, and now finally at 29, I've been...

Progress Log: Investing for Passive Income

    HOT! INVESTING
Eventually, I'm trying to do the same as you, building a dividend-rich portfolio for passive income -- which is dope plan, by the way (though clearly I'm biased). I'm bootstrapping an e-commerce site that I launched last month (after closing down my first one because I realized the new branding...

    I've Read UNSCRIPTED!

    GOLD! HOT!
Oof, I'm late in saying this but I read Unscripted back in late 2019.. though I'm about to re-read MFL and Unscripted a second time. Can't tell you how grateful I am for both those books and this forum.

Need Help Honing My Business Focus (Written Content Production and Strategy)

As the title suggests, I feel like I'm stuck in a loop that I haven't been able to get out of on my own. The irony is that I'm awesome at helping other businesses and freelancers really hone in on what to focus on when it comes to their processes and marketing, but because I'm so familiar with...

How do I increase the income on a gaming blog I own?

This. So I have a gaming-related website and know your struggle quite well. The biggest issue is you're fighting for a slice of a very saturated market. Even with great SEO, social media presence, and video content, the kicker is you need to find something that makes you unique that people...

What would you tell your 18 or 25 year old self?

    GOLD! MINDSET
Find a profitable process you enjoy and the money will follow (that is, don't chase money, chase a problem to solve that you like solving and has value to others). Stop doubting yourself; any weaknesses you perceive can be fixed through learning new skills and finding good people to surround...

Quitting my corporate 9 to 5 at age 23. I have a long way to go, but never been more excited

    INTRO
Congratulations on plunging into this adventure, dude! I remember when I finally made enough money to start working on my own instead of continuing the corporate grind right around your age too. I actually went to school out in Minnesota and decided to get a fresh start and moved out to...

    My First Foray Into Ecommerce

    EXECUTION
ENTRY 4. Hey everyone, it's been a while. As you can see, I'm still alive and working on my e-commerce endeavors. Especially as the pandemic is winding down and the sun is shining, I'm in a much better spot mentally to be working on my projects. Oof, do I have a bit to share -- but I'll keep it...

    My First Foray Into Ecommerce

    EXECUTION
ENTRY 3. Holy crap, November was rough. Between the days getting longer and just being stressed out, this wasn't too strong of a month. Profit was only about $100 or so and I was distracted trying to find more work as my contracting stuff had a wrench thrown into it. I'll apologize in...

    My First Foray Into Ecommerce

    EXECUTION
Not to answer your question with another question but.. was there something more specific you were curious about? I'm happy to explain, just wanna make sure I do so in a way that's most helpful for you. :D

    My First Foray Into Ecommerce

    EXECUTION
ENTRY 2. Another month, another update. October overall was pretty good. Sales and profit were up compared to September AND it was a new record, passing August as well by $16. I also managed to get my first affiliate sale (a friend successfully suggested buying a shirt to one of their friends)...

    My First Foray Into Ecommerce

    EXECUTION
ENTRY 1. Hey everyone, I'm back with some updates! September was mostly uneventful as far as business growth goes. I only made $132.60 in profit which is a dip from August but that's alright. What I lacked in money I gained in experience while crossing off a few points on my to-do list from...

    My First Foray Into Ecommerce

    EXECUTION
ENTRY 0. So since we're at the eve of starting a new month, I figured now's a nice clean slate to begin keeping track of my progress into a new venture: ecommerce. A bit of backstory: I'm a freelance writer with an emphasis on organic SEO. I've helped friends and clients either set up websites...

How do you market a book on Amazon effectively?

    MARKETING
Soooo.. super happy you told me this because it makes a lot of sense and my campaign was barely two days deep so I paused that indefinitely. I've already sold a few dozen copies but it would've only been enough to *just* cover the ad costs if I went with the full $100 I budgeted for it but...

Napoleon Hill likely never studied any millionaires, but this man actually did and published research.

Thank you for this, OP. TGR was the first "entrepreneurial self-help" book I read but then after I realized that Hill was a scam artist, it put a lot of my faith in its precepts into question. That said, I still really enjoyed the message but to have something now with actual substance behind it...
