How much sleep do you get?

    HEALTH
I wake up 6 to 7 hours after I lie down. I'm awake after that, and it's difficult to push it any longer. It's a blessing in disguise.

    Trying Times (Trying VS Doing)

    MINDSET
Thanks for the stellar post. I'd like to put this on a sticker, then stick it to the foreheads of some people I know. This thread makes me think of:

My Moleskine Notebook is in the Trash

    HOT!
I like the 8.5x11 Mead spiral notebooks (college ruled). Plenty of real estate for writing and sketching. I've used leather-bound notebooks and legal pads too. If you're the type of person who likes to go back through their scribbles, make sure you get something durable. The cheapest...

I had that idea first, and I'm GLAD they're making millions.

    IDEA MINDSET
Thinking of it first is one thing. Acting on it first is another. Then it's a question of how you take action compared to the next guy. You can put things in perspective easily using numbers. Let's play with a fun example: According the US Census Bureau, there are at least 242 million adults...

UNSCRIPTED: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Entrepreneurship

Congratulations MJ! Can't wait to read through Unscripted, add it to the collection, and share it when I can. I'm sure it'll be as eye-opening as the first book.

    NEED HELP! (Discovering a need/want)

Can you think of a complementary product/accessory for a top-selling product? What do you do more than once per day? What do you use more than once per day? Are there any products/services that you use and complain about?

    EXECUTION
Getting back on track. I finished redesigning my engine parts thanks to customer feedback, which is SO invaluable. I thought my previous iterations were great. By the numbers, yes, sure. They worked as intended. The engines made good power, and they looked alright. What I changed isn't...

I found an important note as we fast-forward to August. You are bound to have haters when you are on social media, and I have yet to meet somebody who hasn’t dealt with it. What your haters will say is unpredictable. I usually ignore it because I believe that silence is one of the strongest...

What book are you reading? Right now. Post up!

    NOTABLE! HOT! BOOKS CHAT
Just started "The 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing" by Al Ries & Jack Trout. It's a short book: 130 pages and fun to read so far. Lots of common sense reminders that make it a great tool to keep on your desk. Also, "Four Stroke Performance Tuning" by A. Graham Bell because it reads like a...

I went into the office today on Black Friday

Sounds like 3 people doing what others won't to have what others don't. Message received!

    All Work No Play?

    OFF-TOPIC
I build engines for scooters/RC and detail cars. Sometimes I put the scooters in the trunk and bring them to local car shows to ride around the parking lot. Motor heads get a kick out of it :) When it's not that, it's fishing or riding my bicycle. I love the great outdoors.

    What do you drive?

    OFF-TOPIC
2008 Camry, 4 cylinder. I stay on top of the maintenance to prevent surprises down the road, and it takes good care of me. I'll drive it 'till the wheels fall off.

    product manufacturing

Google is the right answer. Please be specific. What kind of manufacturing do you need? Injection molding? CNC machining? Investment casting?

    What is your reading setup?

    MINDSET
Outside, on the balcony or in the garage. Reading inside puts me to sleep. Edit: No music. eBook or paperback. Doesn't matter, as long as it's in English

Lesson learned from a shit job

Interesting! You only need to watch a couple episodes to get the point. There are a lot of big need-based businesses that aren't glamorous. Portapotty services and trash collection, and cleaning services (of any sort) come to mind first. Your eye-opening experience put you on the right...

May 2016 Update The following posts and paragraphs might seem disjointed, since I’m leafing through my notes and picking out the good bits and pieces. I’m trying to avoid redundancy as much as possible. Having said that, I think redundancy exists because of my routine. Routines and processes...

I started listening to the Tim Ferris Show podcast in April. For anyone not “in the know,” Tim Ferriss is the popular author and auto-didact who wrote the 4-Hour series of books and now has a podcast where he interviews famous champions. What I learned from him, and a few other authors, is to...

    EXECUTION
March 2016 Update Early to mid-March was slow since I was anxiously waiting for parts to finish at the shop. In the meantime, I was selling leftover stock, and I started considering social media marketing (blog posts, Instagram, and Facebook). That was a mistake. I spent more time thinking...
