POV Question For Experienced Fiction Authors

    PUBLISHING
Thanks COSenior. I'm fairly thick skinned, just trying to get it right. I know what you are talking about on the article. Lol "*Please don’t write any scenes where your character is looking into a mirror. It is a terrible way to describe your main character, and I’m guilty as hell of doing it...

POV Question For Experienced Fiction Authors

What a fantastic answer. Especially the "get out of the way" bit. Awesome! If I understand correctly, you are what they call an architect. I couldn't write that way. Just having more than a vague idea of how my book will end is almost enough to make me feel stifled. I am definitely a gardner...

POV Question For Experienced Fiction Authors

Perfect! Thank you. I have been using chapter breaks to change POV, but I may be falling into the bad opening scenario. That definitely needs to get fixed. My first character POV change I tried to make use of a complete scenery change in the first paragraph to show it was someone else, before...

Out of a Funk - a Newbie's Journey In Self Publishing

I sometimes have a hard time starting a chapter. I'll know where I want to go, but not exactly how to get there. So, I'll just skip the how to get there part and just start Writting the scene I want to get to. Then I go back and find that filling in the "how do I get there" is so much easier...

Correct pricing for fiction eBook series

They can climb the free rankings and drive readers toward your other two books. I don't know all of the benefits, but I've seen a bunch of books that are first in a series on the free lists, while the other books do pretty well because people who read the first for free have to find out what...

POV Question For Experienced Fiction Authors

I just received my first review. It was positive, but had a couple of constructive criticism points. One will be answered already in the next book, the other left me with a puzzle. Now, it is only one review, so it's not enough to tell me to course correct, but I wanted to get some advice on it...

I got my first review! I know that probably has little to do with sales, but it's awesome anyway. The reviewer wrote a very detailed review and gave me 4 stars. Again, I know that has nothing to do with sales, but it does boost the confidence quite a bit. Anyway, just thought I'd share.

Okay, so my goal is to do an EOM (End Of Month) update every month so that I can help those coming behind, but also so that I can reflect on what I've done and use that reflection to plan my next steps. This EOM update will be relatively short, because I just started this thread a few days ago...

    {PROGRESS + ACCOUNTABILITY} LAURYN'S RECONSTRUCTION: GETTING TO 50 SHADES OF PAID

The enneagram may actually be a better system for character creation, especially when you're getting into someone's head. I hadn't seen that before, but I think I'll start integrating that into my character development. I found a website that correlated enneagram type by MBTI type. May be good...

That's an awesome resource. I have been using the MBTI as my touchstone for character development. I have been imagining the type of person I want, then finding the MBTI personality that best fits the person I'm imagining. I use the type descriptions to flesh the character out after that. It...

COSenior, yours was the third progress thread I read after the HfR and Chikenhawks. I've loved reading your progress and the insane amount of words you're able to produce in a day. You're actually a bit of a rock star for me. So getting your encouragement means a lot. A lot! Thank you.

Thanks Mattie. I actually started the first book trying to just write for the audience, but I ended up adding so many elements that I enjoy that it became a hybrid that probably lost all cohesion, but I'll get better. I'm serious about letting me know when you publish. I'd love to read your book.
